Little man

Jackson got his tubes put in on Friday, and man, what a difference they have made. Friday was a little rough because Jackson was not a happy camper when he came out from anesthesia. After a little while, he was fine though. It is amazing at what a difference the tubes have already made. We had not even noticed that he had slowly stopped babbling. Now he is just making noise all the time. All in all, he is just so much better and we are so glad that we decided to get tubes put in. They are definitely worth it. Thanks for all your prayers throughout this ordeal. We really appreciate it.

In Bloom...

Several years ago, when Jeremy and I had just moved into our house, I visited my Nanny in Greenville. While we were there, my Mom and I cleaned up my Nanny's flower bed. I brought a single amaryllis bulb back to our house and planted in my front flower bed. For three years now, that bulb has come up, but never bloomed. I just figured it was because I only had one bulb. You see, I don't know a whole lot about gardening. I just plant something, and if it dies, I know I have done something wrong. Well, I just got my first amaryllis bloom. It is so pretty and eye catching. When I mentioned to my Nanny that the amaryllis had finally bloomed, she commented that if it came from her house, it had once been one of my Great Grandmother, aka Granny's, bulbs. They lived next door to each other and my Nanny had transplanted several bulbs, and I in turn (many, many years later) had brought one of the bulbs to my house.

I don't know why that means so much to me, but it does. My Granny died on July 4th, 1996, and just knowing that I have something that once belonged to her, just means alot to me. Kinda sentimental and corny...but special just the same. Needless to say, whenever Jeremy and I decide to move, that bulb is going with us. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

P.S. Keep us in your prayers. Jackson will be having tubes put in tomorrow morning. I will let everyone know later how he did.

Tubes, Tubes, Tubes

So our saga with our little man's ears continues. We took him to the ENT appointment on Monday and Dr. Knox said that he still had fluid behind the eardrums, and that without tubes, we are just not ever going to get rid of this problem. So Jackson has been scheduled for surgery Friday morning. Well, late last night and into this morning, Jackson started coughing so bad that I took him to his pediatrician this morning. She said that the fluid from Monday had turned into a major double ear infection. I was really worried that they were going to reschedule his surgery, but with the antibiotics he is starting today, he should be fine for surgery on Friday. So keep us and Jackson in your prayers. We are all ready for this stuff to be done with so Jackson can get back to his healthy, happy self.

Jackson investigates!!!

Jackson just had to come check out the camera.

Jackson on the move!

Jackson just loves his walker, and Macy just tries to stay out of his way!

Just another day...

Hey everyone. Just wanted to give an update on our little man, Jackson. He went to the Dr. again yesterday for this fever/cough/runny nose/rash/no sleep/general irritability thing that has been going on with him. He has a viral infection, which explains all the symptoms listed above, and he is teething, which I am sure is no fun for him. No medicine is required, except tylenol for Mom and Dad :)

He will be going to an ENT on Monday to discuss the possiblity of him getting tubes for his ears. We have been battling ear infections since November, and although he does not currently have an ear infection, he still has fluid behind the ear. Although I hate the thought of him having to have any kind of surgery, even one as common as tubes, I really hope that Dr. Knox thinks that tubes will help him. He has just had a time with his ears, and we really want him to get better soon. I think we have had enough trouble with his ears. Lets just fix this problem!!!

Jackson is now 8 months old. He is into everything now and is just so curious about stuff. He loves to open drawers and play with doors (I know...easily amused). He is just great and I hope that you enjoy the pics. Have a great day!!!

The Remote Control

Last night we had an odd event happen in the Wade household. I woke up around 12:00 a.m. and realized that the sleep timer had not turned the TV off. I told Jeremy to turn the channel to Fox News (it always puts me to sleep) and for the life of us, we could not find the remote control. We looked on the nightstand, under the covers, under the bed...you name it, we looked. Keep in mind this is in the middle of the night. After a few minutes we gave up and went back to sleep. Around 2:00 in the morning, Jeremy woke me up to tell me that he had found the remote control.
Now get this...he had gone to the kitchen to get a glass of water and looked down and saw our remote control soaking with the bottles in our kitchen sink. Yes that's right...in the kitchen sink. Neither of us has any idea how it ended up floating in our sink, but I know for a fact that I do NOT sleepwalk. That leaves Jeremy, Jackson, and Macy, and none of them are talking :)

The Sacrifice

Our church has put on a play each Easter called "The Sacrifice" for the last 7 years. I went last night after our trip to Mississippi to visit Jeremy's family. It is a typical Easter play, but no matter how many times I watch it, it is always so hard for me to watch Jesus get beaten, whipped, and then get put up on the cross to die. Everything thing about it makes it so real, the makeup, the costume "blood", the music...it all just comes to life in those scenes. It was even harder this year because of Jackson. That may sound weird, but for the first time, I really thought about what it must have been like for Mary to watch her son die. How does a parent handle that? I can't even imagine how that must feel. It would truly be like a piece of yourself is being ripped out.

Just remember as you go about preparing for this Easter season, the real reason that we celebrate. It is not about bunnies, jelly beans, and Cadbury eggs (although I do enjoy them). Easter is all about the sacrifice that Jesus made for you and me. Don't forget that.
