Happy Halloween!

Last night we took Jackson to a fall festival at a church around the corner from us. We had such a good time! They had tons of free food, games, and Jackson's favorite thing was a small petting zoo. He loved the animals!
Tonight I have some out of town relatives coming into town to visit with my family, and then we will probably hit our neighborhood for some Trick-or-Treating. Jeremy's parents will be getting into town to visit late tonight, and then tomorrow we are going to Home Depot for their free kids workshop. Amy and Adam will also being coming to hang out for awhile. Then, in the afternoon we will be heading to Gracie's birthday party. We have a busy weekend ahead, but we are really looking forward to it.
Happy Halloween!

Tiger Woods, here he comes!!

Jackson is a golfer for Halloween this year. Think Payne Stewart meets size 2T clothing and you've got the idea. He is so stinking cute. We got him to wear the outfit, but he REFUSES to wear the hat. Last night we got him all dressed up for church wearing his costume. All the kids were going to trick-or-treat around the tables after Wednesday night supper. I got home and tried to start getting Jackson ready. Let's just say that it ended up taking 2 adults to get 1 toddler into his costume. He was pitching a fit! He kept saying "TAKE IT OFF!!" Finally with enough encouragement (i.e. bribing him with enough candy) we were out the door to go to church. Once we got there, and he figured out that all he had to do was walk up to people to get candy, he was all about it. The turn around in attitude was immediatCheck Spellinge! Now, if only Jeremy and I had remembered to put the candy out of sight before going to bed last night, maybe we wouldn't have had to reason with a toddler this morning as to why he had to eat his grits before he could get a sucker. Lesson learned!

The School Bus

Every morning at exactly 6:51 Jackson and I run down our driveway, I pick him up in my arms, and we wait for the school bus to come down our street. Jackson loves the school bus, and I can see why. The flashing lights, the stops at peoples houses; it's very exciting for a toddler. Jackson waves to the bus driver as she drives by and I can tell that the driver just loves him. She just laughs and smiles every time she sees him. He is very cute after all. Jackson will even tell you that the school bus takes big kids to school cause he's smart like that. The bus drives past our house, and stops 2 houses down for our neighbor Joel to get on, then drives around the corner to pick up 2 more kids. Then it does Jackson's favorite thing; the driver puts the bus in reverse and the bus turns around, making it's "beep beep beep" sound the entire time. You can just see the excitement on Jackson's face. He loves it! The bus drives past us again, Jackson waves once more, and then Jeremy takes him to school.

One week from today, on November 4th, millions of Americans are going to head to the polls to elect our new leaders for the coming terms. The decisions we will make will impact not only our lives, but also the lives of our children and grandchildren. I pray that we make wise and moral decisions because, as I have realized over the past couple of days, I am not voting for me. I am voting for the country and the leader that I want Jackson to have. He is far more important than me, and I know that my decision in one week will have a much greater impact on his life than mine. He is my future. I am now voting for him. We will watch results come in until late in the night, and perhaps by the time we go to bed we will know who our new leaders will be.

Then, on November 5th, at exactly 6:51, Jackson and I will head down our driveway, I will pick him up in my arms, and we will wait for the school bus to come by. He will wave and smile at the bus driver and we will wait for the "beep beep beep" sounds of the bus backing up. A lot will change on November 4th, but thankfully some things, the most important things, will remain the exact same.

In Case You Ever Wondered...

I would like to give a heartfelt "Thanks" to the makers of Readers Digest for placing a Dove campaign for real beauty ad on the back of their November issue. I especially love that the back cover shows nothing more than a cute model in her white bra and skimpy panties, and that my 2 year old son keeps picking up the magazine, pointing to the barely dressed girl, and saying, "Girl. Girl. Girl." over and over. Sheesh. He's two!!! I don't want to consider the "Girl. Girl. Girl." thing for another 15 or so years. I'm reading Readers Digest for goodness sake!! It's not like I have Cosmo lying around the house. I can't even imagine what he would learn from that.

Just so you know...

Opie Cunningham Endorses Barack Obama

This is disturbing on so many levels. I can't even belive that Ron Howard has turned a wholesome show like the Andy Griffith show into a political endorsement for Barack Obama. I just have no words...

Um...Seriously????

Last night I was showing Jeremy just how much I love him by agreeing to watch the first game of the World Series. That was a huge sacrifice for me because watching baseball on TV is not my favorite thing to do, but in all reality, there really wasn't anything else on. Jeremy is pulling for Tampa Bay, and I guess if I actually cared, I would say that I am also pulling for Tampa Bay. Then, when the Phillies were up to bat we had the following brief conversation:

Jeremy: "Do you know who that right fielder used to play for?"
Me: (insert sounds of crickets chirping)

We've been married for almost seven years. You would think he would know me better than that by now....

Ooops.....We did it!

Each month a group of girls from our Sunday School class and church get together for a Girls Night Out. Last night was a Halloween party complete with a dress up contest. Kellyn and I got together and decided to go as something NO ONE would ever expect us to do.

We went as Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears. The very pregnant Jamie Lynn.

The following pictures served as the beginning of our inspiration:

This is what we came up with:
Kellyn with her pregnant belly, and me with my "K-Fed is my Baby Daddy" shirt.
Me with Sean Preston and Jayden James and my pack of cigarettes. And "Daddy" was accidentally-on-purpose spelled backwards.

And we won!

All the girls together (L to R) Leigh Ann, Kasey as a 60's sweetheart, Natasha as Emo, Leslie as a graduate, Kimmie as "white trash," Kellyn as Jamie Lynn, Me as Britney (with my 2 kids), Britney, and Kara.

New bloggy love

I have 2 new blogs that I just found, and I just couldn't hold out on all 2 of you readers, and I just had to share. My blogosphere has expanded with Danielle at 6YearMed who captured my heart with her Woven and Spun post. She is a pediatric doctor who has such a heart for medicine and writing, and I am thrilled that I found her.

I also want to share with you Ali from Ali's African Adventure. She is a pediatric nurse currently serving off the coast of Liberia with Mercy Ships, a non-governmental hospital ship. She is also an amazing writer, and I know you would enjoy her too!

I know the medical blogs are not something that I normally read, but I am hooked!! I hope you click over and check them out. Let me know what y'all think!

Pumpkin Patch Pictures (try saying that 5 times fast)

Jackson likes to put his sun glasses on himself, and the result is, they nearly always are on upside down!

Update on little man

Thanks for your prayers for Jackson's surgery on Friday. Everything went fine! The Dr. told us that he was hoping that he would get in there and see that Jackson's adenoids were huge, and that removing them would give him tons of relief, but much to our dismay, his adenoids were normal sized. That means that his issues with his constant runny nose and congestion is more of an allergy problem than anything else. We will be seeing the doctor again in a week and hopefully we will know where to go from here.

In other news, we had a great time visiting the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday. The weather was a little breezy, but beautiful. Jackson had a blast running around and getting his picture made, and he even had his first pony road. I was afraid that he would freak out a little bit, but he LOVED it. After a twactor twain ride with Nana and Tata, we then rode out to the pumpkin patch and picked 3 of the biggest pumpkins ever. I can't wait to carve them next week! We had so much fun!

Saturday afternoon, Amy and Adam came over to play with Jackson and Jackson had such a good time hanging out with them. Jackson loves his Mimi and Uncle Adam! We watched some football, and then Jackson had to show everyone how good he is at riding his "twicycle." Little man was sad to see them go.

Sunday was a normal "churchy" day and just resting up for the rest of this week. I will post pumpkin patch pictures really soon. Take care!

Say a little prayer...

Tomorrow morning Jackson will have his 3rd set of tubes put in and also have his adenoids removed. Please say a little prayer that he will have an easy surgery and recovery, and that this set of tubes will do the trick.

I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Uninvited guest

Jeremy called me the other day and we had a most interesting conversation about an uninvited guest at our house. He had been doing some yard work and spotted a snake in our yard. Y'all, we live in the middle of a neighborhood, and last time I checked, we did NOT invite any of Satan's hand puppets to come hang out around our house. So when Jeremy spotted the snake, he did what any husband who is supportive of his wife's blogging habit would do....he ran inside to get the camera. After snapping a few pictures he ran to go get the shovel, and wouldn't you know it, the snake got away. When I asked him long long it was, he told me that it was nearly as long as his leg. He looked for it for awhile, and finally gave up.

Until yesterday...

The snake decided to rear his ugly little head again, and this time, Jeremy didn't bother taking a picture of it before he got his shovel and killed it. I know some people out there would say that since it is one of the "good" snakes (if there even is such a thing), I can't have a snake slithering through my yard with a toddler running around. It just wouldn't be a good combination. I can only imagine my inquisitive toddler running up to show me what he had found with a creepy snake in his hand. Not.Gonna.Happen.

Here are the pictures of our Mr. No Shoulders.

P.S. Although in the picture the snake looks "as long as my leg" according to Jeremy, he is really only about 14-16 inches long and about as thick as a penny. Well, I guess I should say he "was" 14-16 inches.
Y'all have a great day, and sorry if the pictures give you the creeps!

I think he's getting just a tad bit confused here...

We are teaching Jackson to say, "Trick or Treat...give me something good to eat" for Halloween. You have got to watch these videos. He is too funny!!

In the first video he is using his new "scary" voice that is sure to win some folks over with his charm!!

In this next video he transitions from his scary voice to channeling Tiger Woods.

In this last video he is all over the place. I seriously have no idea where he comes up with this stuff. He also video debuts his new funny face in which he scrunches up his face until you can't even see his eyes. I have laughed until I cried over this new funny face, which he always chooses to do when I am trying to get on to him for something. He knows he is being cute, which in turn means he is just irresistible!!

I hope you enjoy the videos!

Happy Anniversary!!!!

Jeremy and I want to wish his parents, aka Gigi and Papa, a wonderful 31st Wedding anniversary. They are a wonderful couple who are great to the 2 of us, and boy do they love their grandson!! We are really lucky to have such great examples of long lasting (and happy) marriages all around us.

So Happy Anniversary!!! I hope y'all have a wonderful day and a great trip to the coast this weekend.

National Day of Remembrance

As many of you know, I avidly follow Angie Smith's blog, Audrey Caroline. She has written a beautiful post about how today, October 15th, is the National Day of Remembrance for pregnancy and infant loss. This includes all babies who have died because of miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, or any other infant death.

I have never had a miscarriage, or suffered through the tragedy of losing an infant, but I have no doubt in my mind that had my doctor not stayed on top of watching my pregnancy with Jackson, I would have lost him. You see, the very night I announced at church that I was pregnant, I started bleeding. I called my Mom in a panic, and after calling our doctor's after hours number, I was told I could be in the process of beginning to miscarry. Turns out my progesterone level that was supposed to be doubling every few days was falling fast. My hormones were so messed up with him, that I was in the doctors office at least once a week, if not twice, and to have blood drawn to check my hormone levels. Had my Dr. not been so willing to keep checking me, and prescribe the correct medication, I would have lost my little man. Once I hit 12 weeks, the placenta kicked in, and everything was fine.

Today Angie's blog is set up for anyone who has ever experienced the loss of a miscarriage or infant death to leave a comment, and for those of us reading to pray for their loss. Please drop in today and remember those who have lost precious little lives.

The Gift of Grandparents

I want to wish Jeremy's grandparents, Mamaw and Papaw, a wonderful 65th Wedding Anniversary!! Isn't that incredible!! 65 years is practically forever!!! Jeremy and I both have been blessed with great grandparents, and honestly, if you could see his Mamaw and Papaw together you would witness what true love and marriage should be all about. They literally adore each other! They are truly wonderful people, and I wish them the best! We love you Mamaw and Papaw!!!

In other grand parenting news, it was 6 years ago today that my Granny Betsy (My Dad's Mom) passed away. She was such an amazing person (fun and feisty), and I miss her so much. I especially miss that she wasn't able to meet my little man before she died, and now, she has her 2nd great-grandchild on the way. My cousin Brandi is expecting a little girl in November, and I know she would be so delighted to have another great grand baby on the way.

Granny Betsy, Me, and my little sister Kellyn rocking the Auburn stuff at a game many, many, years ago. Check out my frayed cut-off shorts and Kellyn's tied up shirt!!

It is amazing to think about the influence our grandparents make on our lives, and how much they impact us, even after they are gone. Grandparents are a true gift!!!

Happy Anniversary Mamaw and Papaw!!!

Daddy's Lil' Buddy

Jackson has been stinking hilarious lately. His personality is really shining through, and he is turning out to be quite a funny kid with a great sense of humor. Here are a few new videos of him that we made this weekend, and I promise they will make you laugh.

Daddy's Lil' Buddy (who wants to go to Yal-Mart)

Jackson already knows how to throw his golf clubs!!

Jackson answers the eternal question of "Why we go to work!"

Hey, leave me some comment love!!! It's a Monday after all, and I could use a pick-me-up. Later gators!!!

Third time is the charm, right?

So after our visit to Jackson's ENT yesterday it was decided that he will get his 3rd set of tubes put in next Friday, along with having his adenoids removed. The Dr. said that Jackson is a "spewer" meaning that he kicks his tubes out really quickly. Hopefully, this will be the last time we will have to go through this. 2 surgeries in one year is 2 too many in my opinion!!

In other news, I have absolutely nothing planned this weekend other than spending time with my Jackson, and I am so excited about that. My only goal for today is to finish my Friday work, NOT watch the collapse of the stock market, and to try my best to forget that Barack Hussein Obama was ever born.

I hope y'all have a great weekend!! I catch up with you later.

In Case You Ever Wondered...

If your child is learning to sing and play Ring Around the Rosie, it's best to be really careful when they repeat the "Ashes, Ashes" part of the song, if you catch my drift.

Just so you know...
