He's Such a Little Player

When I got to Jackson’s school yesterday all the kids were outside playing on the playground. Jackson saw me pulling in and immediately ran to the gate to wait for me to get out of the car. I got to the gate opened it up, and Jackson gave me a quick hug before looking over his shoulder. He told me that he needed to tell Gracie and Colleen, who are both in his 2 year old class, goodbye.

I watched my little man run back to the playground, find Gracie and Colleen, and proceed to give both of them hugs and kisses on the lips. As he was walking away, and I’m not exaggerating this in the slightest, Gracie batted her eyelashes and called out in her most adorable Southern belle drawl, “Bye sweet pea. I’ll see you later!”

Jackson then turned around to me and said, “Gracie and Colleen are my girlfriends.”

I’m raising a 2 year old ladies man…

Linky Love

I'm swamped with life right now. Work is crazy busy! Jeremy's Dad is doing much better and should be getting out of the hospital today, and Jeremy will be home tonight. Jackson and I have missed him dearly. Since I don't have anything else to share, I wanted to give you some linky love today.

With my hypochondria tendencies, I wish I had NEVER, EVER heard of this.

Could this possibly be THE worst idea anyone ever had? I'm betting someone is going to lose their job over this $328,835 snafu.

Check this out. What does it say that an evil leader has latched on to our current Presidents campaign slogan? Admiration? Respect? Envy? Me liketh that not so much...

And last, but certainly not least....100 Days, 100 Mistakes. I'm thinking we won't see much of this reported on CNN or MSNBC.

Adventures in Parenting

So I'm doing the solo parenting thing for a few days while Jeremy is spending some more time with his family. Just being on my own and having to do everything has given much such an appreciation for what single parents do on a daily basis. It's exhausting!!

Here's how yesterday went:

6:00 Wake-up, get ready, Jeremy gets Jackson ready.
6:50 Say goodbye to Jeremy, stand outside waiting for the school bus to drive by our house.
7:00 Drop Jackson off at school.
7:30 Get to work and begin working like an banshee for a huge conference this weekend.
9:45 Break time (not a minute too soon!)
10:00 Back to work
12:30 Lunch-time (once again, not a minute too soon!)
1:30 Back to work
2:45 Break time
4:30 Head home
5:00 Pick Jackson up
5:01 Get the best hug ever from my little man!
5:10 Get home, check mail, change clothes.
5:15 Start supper
5:16 Jackson goes outside and plays in the backyard.
5:17 Jackson asks me to go outside and play. I explained that I'm cooking supper and I'll be outside in a minute.
5:18 I open up my bedroom and throw some clean clothes onto my bed to hide them.
5:19 Jackson asks me again to go outside and play.
5:20 I give in and play outside for a few minutes
5:30 Finish getting supper ready and on the plates
5:40 Eat supper
5:50 Clean up supper
6:00 Freshen make-up
6:10 My Dad gets to my house to watch Jackson
6:15 I head to church for a meeting.
6:30 Nominating committee meeting at church.
8:15 Finally finish meeting
8:30 Get home. This is normally when Jackson goes to bed, but instead we are beginning bath time. Dad heads out.
8:45 Jackson is finished with his bath, and we get his "must have" snack and milk.
9:00 Jackson finally is in bed. My bed. It wasn't even worth the battle.
9:01 Jackson starts flipping around my bed playing. Clearly, I'm not amused.
9:02 Jackson "gets" that I'm not playing anymore. He calms down.
9:05 I head to the kitchen to go clean up the dishes. I loathe this job.
9:15 I'm finally finished and go to the bedroom to get ready for bed.
9:20 I'm finally laying down.
9:21 Jackson tells me that he wants to cuddle. Of course I oblige. I live for this stuff!
9:22 Jackson (in true boy fashion) poots the loudest, smelliest poot on me.
9:23 We both get to cracking up laughing because I've started calling Jackson "my little rooter tooter pooter"
9:25 Jackson finally settles down and starts yawning.
9:30 Success!!! The kiddo is asleep.
10:00 I finally call it day and don't even stay awake until Leno. I'm exhausted!!

A few observations: I have too much on my plate, and clearly, I rely on Jeremy a lot more than I give him credit for! I can't wait for him to get home.

P.S. Today is the 10 year anniversary of when Jeremy and I started dating. Isn't that crazy! I can't believe that ten years has already gone by, but I can truly say that even though he drives me crazy sometimes, I'm still crazy about him!

And We're Back (Sort Of)

Hey y'all. I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was crazy! It started off Saturday morning with a trip to the zoo with my cousin Cherie and her kids Faith and Gage (and Ella Grace in Cherie's belly), Aunt Nett, Mom, Dad, KK, Jason, and of course Jackson. We had a wonderful time checking out the zoo and Jackson was zonked by the time we got home.

I put him down for his nap (which ended up not happening at all) and the phone rang. It was Jeremy's sister saying that she needed to get in touch with Jeremy because they had just taken Jeremy's dad (Papa) to the hospital because he thought he was having a heart attack.

After a few minutes I got in touch with Jeremy at work, who got in touch with Amy, and we began getting ready to make the trip to Mississippi to be with his family. During this time we found out that his Dad was having a heart attack and that they were in the process of doing a heart cath on him. He ended up with one stint, and according to the doctor, the damage to his heart is minimal because he was treated so quickly.

Buddy is still recovering (and I just got word that he has been moved from CCU to a room which is excellent!), but I know the entire Wade family would covet your prayers for a speedy recovery. Jeremy, Jackson and I drove home yesterday so that I could be at work today, and Jeremy is in the process of driving back to Mississippi right now. We were incredibly blessed that everything is going to be okay, and that it wasn't as serious as it could have been. I'll keep y'all posted!

Prayer Request

Please be in prayer for my wonderful father-in-law, Buddy. He had a heart attack today and after a heart cath was done, and a stint was put in one artery, he is in CCU in Hattiesburg, MS. Hopefully he will be put in a "regular" room tomorrow. As soon as we heard what happened we packed up and headed out. Jeremy's dad is doing okay now, but I know that Jeremy's family would greatly appreciate your prayers....

Happy Birthday Kellyn!!!

I want to wish my favorite little sister Kellyn a wonderful 25th Birthday today. She is such an amazing sister and is a wonderful blessing in my life. Our relationship has gotten so much closer over the years, and she is definitely one of my best friends. I think I'll keep her around for a long, long time! I love you Kellyn!

Happy Birthday Kellyn!!

A Boy and His Boat

Nevermind that we live in the middle of the state of Alabama and that there is no body of water even remotely close by, but Jackson came across his boat and decided that he just "had" to play with it last night.

Climbing in....

Getting situated....

Almost ready....

Perfection.
Now all he needs is a cold drink, and um, some water.

Jackson and Macy peeking inside the house!

We love this kid....

I Dreamed A Dream

I know everyone and their Mother (*waving* Hi Mom!) has probably seen this by now, but if you haven't you really should watch it. It will touch your heart....

Where did he learn this?

Yesterday on our way home from school Jackson got to talking with me about the differences between girls and boys. Thankfully, this conversation was mostly limited to very general differences such as "girls paint their toenails and boys don't" and "boys don't wear the makeup" which I was glad that he realized.

And then the other shoe dropped....

As I was helping him out of my car, and as soon as his feet hit the driveway, he tells me that "girls shake their booty like this" and then proceeds to shake his little booty like a model out of a music video, which for the record, we do not watch in our house.

Either I need to question what exactly he is learning at his church preschool, or Dora the Explorer has some tricks up her sleeve that we need to discuss....

Well Alrighty Then....

Last night while Jeremy was being a super wonderful hubbie and filling my minivan's gas tank up, Jackson and I were hanging out in the car talking about friends.

Me: "Jackson, I love you!"
Jackson: "I love you too Mommy!"
Me: "Can I be your friend?"
Jackson: "Ummmm, no. Daddy's my friend."
Me: "Can't Mommy and Daddy be your friend?"
Jackson: "Ummmm, no. Just Daddy can be my friend. And David at school."

As long as I know where I stand....

Just Help Yourself....

We have Wednesday night suppers at church. It makes my life so much easier that for a measly $4.00 I can eat like a queen on delicious meals while enjoying the fellowship of being at church.

I'm not being sarcastic. It really does make my life easier.

Last night Jeremy couldn't make it to church so I got his meal to go. He got a hamburger, hot dog, baked beans and chips for $4.00. Can you believe it? Fast forward to church being over. I got the 4 girls that I pick up and Jackson into my van and we headed home. About halfway to the girls apartment complex, I hear Jackson pipe up with, "This hot dog is really good!"

Say what?

Jackson had gotten the to-go box off the center console of the van, opened it up, and was proceeding to chow-down on Jeremy's supper!

After I was able to stop laughing, I got the box out of his hands although I did let him finish the hot dog. After I dropped the girls off I called Jeremy and told him that I had his supper and was on the way home. He asked what I had gotten for him and I felt terrible when I had to say, "Well, you HAD a hamburger, hot dog, baked beans, and chips until Jackson got a hold of your box."

When we got home Jackson got such a kick out of telling his Daddy that he ate his hot dog, and we both had to laugh at his antics, because seriously, who could be mad at this face?

In the Interest of Full Disclosure

I have a totally hypothetical story to share today....

Let's just pretend that there is a girl and a boy who live in a house. For this story only we'll call the girl Jamie and the boy Jerry.

And let's just say that Jamie was running a tad bit behind for work and Jerry was busy strapping their hypothetical 2 year old son into his car seat in Jerry's car.

And Jamie was in a bit of a hurry trying to pull out of the driveway....

And Jamie may or may not have hit their trashcan so hard with her hypothetical minivan that it almost tipped over and spilled stinky garbage everywhere.

Jamie's thinking that Jerry really shouldn't of parked that trashcan behind Jamie's minivan....

Jerry's thinking that Jamie really should be able to back up a minivan in a straight line....

And now Jamie's wondering how much flack she's going to catch about "women drivers" the next time Jerry's riding shotgun in her hypothetical minivan, and Jerry's wondering why they purchased a minivan without an "oh crap" handle in the front seat.

And even though Jamie obviously had driving issues this morning, they all lived happily ever after.

The end.

Obviously Jack and I Have Issues

Jeremy loves 24. I can't handle it. I tried watching it for a few seasons, and then by the time I was pregnant with Jackson I decided that it was too stressful to watch and I gave it up.

I've never looked back.

I had also gotten tired of the never ending doomsday predictions of nuclear war, chemical warfare, bombs, blah, blah, blah. If something could go wrong in Jack's life, you could bet good money that it would. Seriously, no one has that bad of a day at work and doesn't decide to change jobs. And, the guy never eats, sleeps, or takes a shower. That gets on my nerves.

Anyways, Jeremy on the other hand is a 24 junkie. He can't get enough of the drama and just loves the show. I had a meeting at church last night and after I got home and was getting ready for bed, Jeremy said, "You'll never guess what happened on 24 tonight."

Big mistake on Jeremy's part...

Thinking that he actually wanted me to start guessing, in rapid fire succession I started throwing out all the possibilities that could occur in 24-land:

You found out Jack is gay.
You found out that Jack is in fact a bad guy.
You found out that Jack is Tony's dad.
You found out that Tony is Jack Bauer in disguise.
You found out that Jack is actually a woman.

Jeremy's only comment to my 24 related scenarios: "Obviously you don't respect 24."

I guess I had better start respecting Jack. He's really good at those torture methods, and I sure don't want to be on his short list. And let's face it, if nuclear disaster or chemical warfare is imminent, we all want Jack Bauer on our side.

Easter Pictures

Hey everyone. We had a great Easter weekend. Jackson has almost eaten his weight in candy! Enjoy the pictures! Jackson hunting for Easter eggs at church.

He decided to play on the swing set after he was done!

Dying Easter Eggs. It wasn't as much of a disaster as I thought it might be!

He loved it!

Jackson's Easter Basket complete with a new monster truck!

Nana, Tata, and Jackson

Me and Jackson

KK, Uncle Jason, and Jackson

Check out his new Sperry's. He looked such such a handsome little guy!

Blowing Bubbles

Such a cutie!

Hunting eggs again

Egg Carnage: Check out those cracks!

I think about 2 eggs out of 30 made it through the "hunting" process. Jackson kept tossing them into his basket, and one time even smashed a bug with one of the eggs!

He finally decided that his wheel-barrow was much better for carrying the eggs around!

Sand box time!
My sweet sister Kellyn (aka KK) and me!

I'm Alive...

Just super busy right now. I'll check in with y'all later with Easter pics and stories when things slow down later today. By y'all!

He is Risen!

1-2 Early in the morning on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone was moved away from the entrance. She ran at once to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, breathlessly panting, "They took the Master from the tomb. We don't know where they've put him."

3-10 Peter and the other disciple left immediately for the tomb. They ran, neck and neck. The other disciple got to the tomb first, outrunning Peter. Stooping to look in, he saw the pieces of linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Simon Peter arrived after him, entered the tomb, observed the linen cloths lying there, and the kerchief used to cover his head not lying with the linen cloths but separate, neatly folded by itself. Then the other disciple, the one who had gotten there first, went into the tomb, took one look at the evidence, and believed. No one yet knew from the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead. The disciples then went back home.

11-12 But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. As she wept, she knelt to look into the tomb and saw two angels sitting there, dressed in white, one at the head, the other at the foot of where Jesus' body had been laid. They said to her, "Woman, why do you weep?"

13-14 "They took my Master," she said, "and I don't know where they put him." After she said this, she turned away and saw Jesus standing there. But she didn't recognize him.

15 Jesus spoke to her, "Woman, why do you weep? Who are you looking for?" She, thinking that he was the gardener, said, "Mister, if you took him, tell me where you put him so I can care for him."

16 Jesus said, "Mary." Turning to face him, she said in Hebrew, "Rabboni!" meaning "Teacher!"

17 Jesus said, "Don't cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go to my brothers and tell them, 'I ascend to my Father and your Father, my God and your God.'"

18 Mary Magdalene went, telling the news to the disciples: "I saw the Master!" And she told them everything he said to her.

19-20 Later on that day, the disciples had gathered together, but, fearful of the Jews, had locked all the doors in the house. Jesus entered, stood among them, and said, "Peace to you." Then he showed them his hands and side.

20-21 The disciples, seeing the Master with their own eyes, were exuberant. Jesus repeated his greeting: "Peace to you. Just as the Father sent me, I send you."

22-23 Then he took a deep breath and breathed into them. "Receive the Holy Spirit," he said. "If you forgive someone's sins, they're gone for good. If you don't forgive sins, what are you going to do with them?"

24-25 But Thomas, sometimes called the Twin, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples told him, "We saw the Master." But he said, "Unless I see the nail holes in his hands, put my finger in the nail holes, and stick my hand in his side, I won't believe it."

26 Eight days later, his disciples were again in the room. This time Thomas was with them. Jesus came through the locked doors, stood among them, and said, "Peace to you."

27 Then he focused his attention on Thomas. "Take your finger and examine my hands. Take your hand and stick it in my side. Don't be unbelieving. Believe."

28 Thomas said, "My Master! My God!"

29 Jesus said, "So, you believe because you've seen with your own eyes. Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing."

30-31 Jesus provided far more God-revealing signs than are written down in this book. These are written down so you will believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and in the act of believing, have real and eternal life in the way he personally revealed it.

I Remember His Walk

He could hear the crowds screaming "crucify" "crucify"...
He could hear the hatred in their voices,
These were his chosen people.
He loved them,
And they were going to crucify him.
He was beaten, bleeding and weakened...
His heart was broken,
But still He walked.

He could see the crowd as he came from the palace.
He knew each of the faces so well.
He had created them.
He knew every smile, every laugh, and every shed tear,
But now they were contorted with rage and anger
His heart broke,
But still He walked.

Was he scared? You and I would have been
So his humanness would have mandated that he was.
He felt alone.
His disciples had left, denied, and even betrayed him.
He searched the crowd for a loving face and he saw very few.
Then he turned his eyes to the only one that mattered
And he knew that he would never be alone.
He looked back at the crowd...
At the people who were spitting at him
Throwing rocks at him and mocking him
And he knew that because of him,
They would never be alone.
So for them, He walked.

The sounds of the hammer striking the spikes echoed through the crowd.
The sounds of his cries echoed even louder,
The cheers of the crowd, as his hands and feet were nailed to the cross,
Intensified with each blow.
Loudest of all was the still small voice
Inside his Heart that whispered "I am with you, my son",
And God's heart broke.
He had let His son walk.

Jesus could have asked God to end his suffering,
But instead He asked God to forgive.
Not to forgive him, but to forgive the ones who were persecuting him.
As he hung on that cross, dying an unimaginable death,
He looked out and saw, not only the faces in the crowd,
But also, the face of every person yet to be,
And his heart filled with love.
As his body was dying, his heart was alive.
Alive with the limitless, unconditional love he feels for each of us.
That is why He walked.

When I forget how much My God loves me,
...I remember his walk.
When I wonder if I can be forgiven,
...I remember his walk.
When I need to be reminded of how to live like Christ,
...I think of his walk.
And to show him how much I love him,
...I wake up each morning, turn my eyes to him,
......And I walk.

This is NOT going to be fun...

I had to go to Primed again after church yesterday. You may remember that my last trip there was about 3 weeks ago. Once again I thought I had strep throat or a major sinus infection. I had some chills, an extremely sore throat, my neck was aching, and it really hurt to swallow.

Wanna know the diagnosis?

Tonsillitis.

As in, I have an appointment in 2 weeks with an ENT to discuss having my tonsils removed.

I’m not so much excited about this.

I've heard from doctors for years that my tonsils are huge when I'm sick, and that this is why I have a constant sore throat and also one of the reasons I *ahem* snore. Jeremy says my tonsils look like that scary lizard from Jurassic Park that flares out his neck.

Something like this:

I don't see the humor.

Choosing Our Battles

I think we have officially hit the stage where Jackson has found his favorite outfit, and refuses to wear anything else. It started on Monday morning when Jackson insisted on wearing his blue jeans and "King of the Playground" shirt to school. I didn't even know that he remembered this shirt, and to show how loved these jeans are, they have a huge hole in the knee of them, and he refuses to wear any other pants. I'm very close to just putting a sign on his back that says, "I dressed myself" and call it a day. Anyways, Monday morning we were crunched for time and couldn't find the shirt. He pitched.a.fit. We finally found the shirt and got him into it and sent him off to school.

Yesterday he wore the jeans again. Luckily I had done laundry on Monday night so they were clean.

Guess what he wore to school today?

3 days of school and 3 days of the exact.same.jeans.
3 days of school and 2 days of the exact.same.shirt.

I promise he's not neglected. At least the clothing is clean and his outfit of choice isn't a Spiderman Halloween costume like the kid I saw last week in Wal-Mart. I do draw the line somewhere.

Jackson and his Green Thumb

These are some pictures from this weekend. Jackson was interested in planting his garden for about 2 minutes, but has since taken quite a liking to going outside to look at his little garden. Enjoy!

Jackson thinking that at the time, a rubber mallet was much more interesting than a shovel!

Check Me Out!

How ya like my new digs? Isn’t it cute!

A few weeks ago I won a custom blog design by Doodlebug design at a bloggy contest over at Grasping for Objectivity. I was so excited. I had taken a peek at Doodlebugs designs during the contest and thought that Judi’s work was really cute. When I found out I won I was elated. Judi was great to work with, and I’m really happy with my finished look. If you are looking to update your blog design, I highly recommend her. She was wonderful!

In other news, Jeremy’s parents and his brother (Papa, Gigi, and Uncle Ben) came over this weekend for a visit. We had a great time hanging out with them, and shamefully, all the guys (and Gigi!) got put to work helping with yard work. We were so busy Saturday afternoon planting flowers and working in my small little garden. We purposely waited until Jackson woke up from his nap so that he could help with the garden, but in all reality, he was only interested for about 2 minutes, and then he was off playing again. Jackson was having the best time hanging out with Papa, Gigi, and Uncle Ben! With everyone’s help we got all the yard work done in time for Jeremy to take a quick shower and head off to church for our Easter play, The Sacrifice. He is in the choir and had performances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. We caught the Saturday night show and it was wonderful. It is a very realistic depiction of the last days of Jesus’ life, and the choir and drama teams do a great job. It was a crazy, busy weekend, and I know it's going to take a few days for me to catch up! I was so out of it this morning that I went off and left Jackson's Easter Eggs for school and my camera sitting on the kitchen counter.

I guess that’s all for today. I hope you have a wonderful Monday, and leave me some love on how much you love my new look!

I've Got "The Right Stuff"

Guess what I just got? You’ll never guess. I just bought 2 tickets to go see New Kids on the Block. Jeremy’s gonna love it!

Just kidding.

My sister Kellyn and I are going to see them at the end of May. I’m so stinking excited. I went to three New Kids concerts way back in the day, and so I’m really excited about seeing them again. It’s been long enough!

Let’s all admit that they’ve done okay in the looks department since passing puberty, even Danny who I didn’t hold out much hope for.
Any children of the 80’s out there that want to leave me a comment and admit to who their favorite New Kid was?I loved Jordan Knight. And Joey. You can also leave me some bloggy love if you want to share about a NKOTB concert you attended, or if *gasp* you got to meet them. I'd be so jealous!
Have a great weekend!

Apparently It's Not a Show Tunes Kind of Morning...

The weather this morning was yuck. It's foggy, very overcast, and is supposed to rain most of the day. It's not looking like a good weather day at all, which is why my conversation with Jackson on the way to school made me laugh.

Jackson: "It's not a pretty day today."
Me: "No, it's a yucky day today."
Jackson: "Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow."

Now this was the point when I began to belt out the song, "Tomorrow" from Annie*. The humor was totally lost on Jackson. It may have had something to do with his tone-deaf, couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, Mom attempting a very well-known show tune from the mother's childhood at 7:00 in the morning at the top of her lungs, but whatever the reason, Jackson wasn't impressed.

In fact, I think he told me to stop singing.

Maybe "tomorrow" he'll like the song a little better, cause you know that no matter what, tomorrow is "always a day away!"

*Admit it: You totally started singing the song to yourself didn't you. I knew it! You just couldn't help yourself :)

I also want to give a bloggy shout out to my friend, Miranda, who found out yesterday (on April Fools Day of all days) that she is going to have a baby boy in August. I'm so excited for Miranda, her husband Bryan, and their adorable daughter Gracie! Boys are wonderful, and I know he is going to give her a run for her money! I can't wait for her adventures to begin!

Happy Birthday Ben!

We want to wish Jeremy's brother Ben a wonderful birthday! We hope you have a great day!Happy Birthday Ben!

Here We Go Again!!

I guess now is as good a time as any for Jeremy and I to announce that we are going to be welcoming a new addition to our family. We are really excited about everything, and will keep you posted as soon as we know more!

We need to get Jackson one of these!

I wonder how long it's gonna take this time for my belly to get this big this time around? Any bets?

April Fools!!!

P.S. I know it's really mean, but we thought it was funny. We are soo not pregnant. Have a great day!
