An Open Letter to President Obama

*Excuse me while I step on my soapbox for a minute.*

Dear President Obama,

First of all, let me just say hello. We haven't been introduced seeing as how I am a registered Republican and we don't quite run in the same circles. I'm not really sure I even have a circle. Anyways, my name is Amy and I am a very right wing Christian conservative. You might even refer to me as a "radical" based on your administration's idea of right wing extremism. I'm not even going to go there. I didn't vote for you, and I never would, but I have a few issues to discuss with you.

To begin, let me just inform you that I'm a birther. I think you need to know that. I don't for a second believe that you are a natural born American citizen. Many may think of this as a crazy right wing conspiracy, but if you don't have anything to hide, why will you not release your birth certificate from Hawaii? Why has it been sealed to prevent anyone from seeing it? If I was in your position and had nothing to hide, why wouldn't I show it just to quiet all the protests? For goodness sakes, even your Kenyan grandmother says that you were born in Kenya.

Second of all, your policy on health care is atrocious. Health care is not a "right." I have to work hard to provide insurance for my family. It's not just given to me "just because." I agree that there are problems with our health care system, but if the government has not been able to successfully run Social Security, Medicare, Medicare Part D, The Omnibus Plan, and now the Cash for Clunkers program, why would I want my health care being controlled by you? Name one country or state that government run health care has worked for? You can't, because it is always a dismal failure! Our health care system may have problems, but it's still the best health care in the world, and you can't argue with that.

And what's the hurry on this plan? Why can Congress not have time to review the 1,100 page bill front to back without having to do it in a matter of weeks? If it took you 6 months to pick a dog out for your family, why are you cramming this down our throats in a few weeks? It's because you know that the average American is extremely opposed to this plan, and you don't want the other half to get wise to how bad this plan is. I don't want my tax dollars effectively ending our capitalist society, and to have MY health care decisions being made by another one of your "czars" who can decide if a certain medical plan is in my best interest. My health care is NONE of your business, and you better stick your nose elsewhere. I'm also not gonna be paying for abortions, or forcing seniors to see "end of life counselors" when they hit 65. Not.Gonna.Happen.

Another question: If this health care plan is so good, then why will the members of Congress and your administration not be on the plan? If it's good enough for me and my family, then you better dang sure be putting yourself, Michelle, Sasha, and Malia on the plan. I'm fed up with this, "do as I say, not as I do" way of life in Washington.

And one more thing. You better rein in Linda Douglass, your White House communications director, with all her talk about, and I quote, "There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

Excuse me? Maybe I misunderstood that. Surely you're not asking for people to turn names in to the government of people who are opposed to your health care plan. That sounds like something from Nazi Germany. I thought we still lived in America where we have freedom of speech, at least for the time being. The last time I checked I had the right, and the duty, to speak out against my government when I disagree with policies, and I wholeheartedly disagree with this policy. The "mob" of Americans who are protesting this are no longer going to be the silent majority. No one has put us up to this. This is a grassroots effort because we've had enough of y'all "telling" us what's in our best interest. You work for us, and you better remember that!

The Declaration of Independence says, "...But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."

I emailed all my representatives yesterday and very nicely informed them that if they vote yes on this health care plan that I could guarantee them that they would lose my vote in the next elections. I may be one person, but I know I'm not alone on this.

So Mr. President get ready because come 2010 we're going to be throwing off such government and providing new guards for our future security, and it's gonna be your turn to face America again come 2012. I'm pretty sure Americans will have had enough of your administration by then. You are doing a pretty good job right now of driving down your approval ratings. So enjoy your time in the White House, but don't get too comfortable; a U-haul will be there before you know it!

Sincerely,

Amy Wade

*And now I'm stepping off my soapbox. Have a nice day!*

Saw your blog info on Blogfrog.
This is a great letter? Did you think of sending it directly to him?
I agree with every aspect and encourage you to let as many people as you can see this letter. How about sending it to your local newspaper as a letter to the editor.
Good job, Amy!

Hey yall, that's my daughter. I'm so proud of her. Ditto -- send it to the newspaper; send it to Bill O'Reilly; send it to everyone. And yes, Amy, send it to "OUR" president. (His watch group may have found you already.) I will be very interested in his response.

Just where is this money tree that keeps producing billions and billions? I want one too!

Preach on!!

Terrific letter! And I agree with you. I myself having been sending emails, etc. to my congressmen letting them know my feelings. We, the people, need to take back our country and reinforce the beliefs our founding fathers set forth.
Thanks!

How 'bout copying your "Open Letter" and e-mail it to Senator Sessions, Senator Shelby, and Rep. Bobby Bright. E-mail to our President -- for now, we do still have "Freedom of Speech."

Who are "WE THE PEOPLE" -- WE ARE!

Are you listening? Where's that soap box??

What a bunch of nonsense. You obviously can't recognize an outstanding president. Let me guess, you want George W. Bush back? -one of the many Republican presidents that helped sink our economy into the toilet. You obviously have too much time on your hands. Go get a job.

Hey anonymous from 8/10/09....I'm sorry that your candidate has shown everybody his true colors of being a socialist...i'm sure you're regretting your decision to vote for him now..and as for her getting a job, she has one, and it's not being an obama koolaid drinker

Isn't it great that we in America can ALL have an opinion -- at least for now.

Amen! Wow, this a terrific letter I wish you would mail it to him. I am also considered a radical right even though I simply stand for the constitution and what my conscience tells me is right, so if that is extreme then I guess I will own it.
