So This Is What 30 Feels Like

I turned 30 years old on Saturday. I'm among the youngest in my group of friends, so I've been able to watch many of my friends turn 30 to see if any of them have had a nervous breakdown on the big day. So far none have, although many didn't hesitate to say that they didn't "like" turning 30. For months now I've been anticipating this birthday, sure that I was going to handle it swimmingly, and move into this next decade of my life with grace and dignity.

Well, I did mostly. I'm not going to lie and say that there weren't a few tears, and just FYI, they weren't happy ones. It didn't help that everywhere I've been this weekend I've heard, "Ma'am" this and "Ma'am" that. Talk about salt on an open wound and making someone feel old! It's not that I'm upset about turning 30 per se, it was more of the fact that there are things that I wanted to have done by now that I haven't done.

Like have another baby...

Run a 5K....

Get a tattoo...

Write a book...

Learn to play golf...

Maybe get my masters...

And I know that each of the things on my list can just as easily be accomplished in my 30's, but it's just not quite how I pictured things (you know, in my whole perfect world thing), and I had to realign some things in my mind. Once I had a little "come to Jesus" meeting with myself, I started to realize how silly I was being. Yes, I'm 30 now....so what? I have been blessed with a wonderful family and in-laws, a great husband of almost 9 years, and one terrific child that is the light of my life. I love my church, my job, and my friends. I have a roof over my head, 2 cars in the driveway, and some money in the bank. I have absolutely nothing to complain about because all things considered, I'm one lucky girl!

So here's to my 30's, and striving to make it the most fun I've had yet!!!

Here's the short: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, 30 isnt old by any means and you still have a year to meet your "30" goals. Had a blast at the zoo with you and cant wait for mom to get home so we can celebrate with food!! Love you!

Hope your birthday was great. Jeremy's post was super sweet. And having a baby in your 30's is great. My 2 came in my 30's so don't worry. 30's are great. When I hit 40 this year I kind of flipped out but then I already was so.....
I think you are kind of a control freak like me but remember and I know you do....Let go and Let God. Hard words to hear over and over and over. But deep down you know it is true. Easier said than done, right?
