Ask Amy Anything

I'm running on three hours of sleep right now due to the bad weather we have experienced here in Alabama. We're fine, but many people around our state have been just devastated by the events that took place on Wednesday. Please continue to pray for those who have been affected, and remember those who are left behind dealing with the tragedy.

And because I'm just worn out, and I'm running on empty, I'm opening today up to another round of, "Ask Amy Anything." This is where click that little comment button down there and ask me anything. It's pretty self explanatory!

So get busy and ask away. Have a great day!

Please Pray For My State

We've been under tornado watches and warnings for hours now, and unfortunately some massive tornados have hit Alabama today. Here is a video from the HUGE tornado in Tuscaloosa.

I'm just going to concentrate on watching the weather tonight, and I'll catch up with y'all tomorrow. Take care!

33 Weeks!!!

How Far Along: 33 weeks. Less than 7 weeks to go!

Size of baby: 17 inches, and weighing in at 4 pounds, about the weight of a pineapple.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 7 pounds per the doctor. I go back on Monday for my next visit, and I'm expecting to have gained about 3 more pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity all the time.

Gender: We're having another little boy, Anderson Moore Wade.

Movement: The little guy has been all over the place this week, and he's put on quite the show a few times. I love every second of it.

Sleep: I'm back to having a rough time sleeping. Between intense heartburn, restless legs, and having to go to the bathroom all the time, I'm not getting much rest. I've also entered the beached whale phase of pregnancy, and it's almost impossible to get myself out of bed without some help. It's rather embarrassing!

Symptoms: Still having some pretty intense Braxton Hicks contractions with a good bit of pressure.

Cravings: Strawberries.

What I Miss: Being comfortable.

Best Moment this week: Seeing Anderson moving all over the place. I just love it!

What I am looking forward to: Going to the beach this weekend for our last family vacation before Anderson makes his appearance!

Sweet Child Of Mine

I had to leave much earlier than normal due to my travel plans Monday morning. On my way out of the door I noticed that another one of my lilies had bloomed overnight. I had been watching them closely and I made sure to show the first bloom to Jackson on Easter morning. He was just as impressed by the pretty bloom as I was, and I made sure to let him know not to touch the bloom because it might break.

On my way out of town Monday morning my cell phone rang. The caller ID showed Jeremy's number, so I answered it assuming that Jeremy was asking me something about Jackson's school stuff. I was pleasantly surprised when it was Jackson calling me from Jeremy's phone

Jackson: "Mama, did you know that your flower has two blooms on it today?"
Me: "I know! Isn't it pretty!"
Jackson: "It sure is. I made sure not to touch the middle of the flower just like you told me, and I touched the petal real, real careful!
Me: "That's good! I'm glad you were so careful."
Jackson: "I didn't break your flowers at all!"
Me: "Thank you sweetie. I hope you have a great day at school. I love you!"
Jackson: "Love you too, Mama! Bye!"

Jackson then handed the phone back to Jeremy and that's when Jeremy told me that Jackson had spotted the new bloom when they were leaving for school and he insisted that he get to tell me all about the new bloom because he knew, "Mama would be so happy!"

How I love that sweet child of mine!

How Great Thou Art

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

Weekly Confessions

  • We have finally started working hard in Anderson's room. I wouldn't say that there is a light at the end of the tunnel yet, but at least we can find the light switch now.

  • Jackson has learned a new word: Mommett. As best we can tell, he's picked up on my "Dadgummit" phrase and morphed it into the word, "Mommett." He even gets the inflection right.

  • Jeremy and I have spent the last 20 minutes watching my tummy move. Anderson has been putting on quite a show tonight!

  • I'm so distracted by my stomach that I just can't think anymore. It's really crazy how much the kiddo is moving right now! So I'm just going to quit blogging tonight and enjoy the antics!

Have a great weekend!

"That" Time Has Come, And It Came Quickly

I remember when I was pregnant with Jackson people would all the time say to me, "I bet you are ready for this pregnancy to be over!" It always bothered me because I had such an easy pregnancy with Jackson, and I never really felt like that until I was about 38 weeks pregnant with Jackson. By that point it was August and hot as Hades outside. My feet were swollen. I couldn't walk more than 10 steps without getting winded. My heartburn was helacious. I had to potty every 5 minutes. Life was just joyous. Luckily, by the time I hit that point I only had a couple of weeks to go.

Tuesday I posted about how good I was feeling this week. Apparently I jinxed myself by typing those words out. Something changed on Wednesday, and for the first time during this pregnancy, I absolutely feel pregnant. I can tell Anderson has dropped some, because his head is very low on my pelvis. This feels as comfortable as it sounds. I would describe his head as, "locked and loaded." My rib cage hurts from being kicked, and my restless legs are wearing me out. I'm just tired, and I don't know if it is from the week, my traveling on Tuesday, or just because I'm pregnant.

Today has not been a feel good day.

So with that, I'm calling in tired to the blog. I'll get a good nights sleep and catch up with y'all on Friday. Take care!

32 Weeks!!!

How Far Along: 32 weeks. Less than 8 weeks to go! It's completely flying by!

Size of baby: 16.7 inches, and weighing in at 3.7 pounds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 7 pounds. I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and I am almost dead even with my weight gain with Jackson at the same point in pregnancy. When I was this far along with Jackson I had gained 6 pounds. The doctor did warn me that this was the point that I started really gaining weight with Jackson, so I'm going to be pretty careful for the next few weeks.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity all the time with the exception of a few t-shirts.

Gender: We're having another little boy, Anderson Moore Wade.

Movement: He's still head down and kicking me all the time in my rib cage. It takes my breath away at times he's kicking so hard. He's really active when I'm trying to go to sleep.

Sleep: It's been good this week. I haven't had the restless legs, and I'm getting some good rest for a change.

Symptoms: I'm having some pretty intense Braxton Hicks contractions, and just a general sense of heaviness in my stomach. I think he may be dropping some because at times it feels like he is about to fall out!

Cravings: Strawberries.

What I Miss: Absolutely nothing this week.

Best Moment this week: Another great doctor's visit. My blood pressure is perfect, Anderson is measuring just right, and I'm doing good on my weight. I have nothing to complain about.

What I am looking forward to: Meeting Anderson in person in less than 8 weeks!

Life Changing Bathtime

Jackson was in our church service this past Sunday morning and saw a boy in our church get baptized. This was Jackson's first time seeing a baptism, although he has heard about it before. Jackson bombarded me with questions after the service was over about the baptism:

"Why did Bro. Bruce put Graham under the water?"
"Did the water go up his nose?"
"Am I going to be baptized?"
"Why did he wear that white thing (the robe)?"
"Does he have to stay under the water for a long time?"

I answered all of his questions and I assumed that the subject of baptism was done for the day. Apparently I was wrong. As Jackson was taking his bath later that night I heard lots of commotion in the bathroom. Since Jeremy was in charge of bath time that night I had to find out what was going on. It turned out that Jackson was practicing baptizing himself in the bathtub over and over again. I walked into the bathroom and Jackson said, "Am I a new person now?" :)

After we answered a few more questions we realized that Jackson decided that he had been baptized enough and he moved on to baptizing Batman instead. So rest easy fellow Believers; Batman could be living in a mansion next door to you up in Heaven one day!

A Weekend In Bullet Form

  • We had some severe storms come through our area late Friday night, and a church not too far from us was severely damaged. Three members of the church, a father and his grown children, were killed in the tornado. Please remember the church, Boone's Chapel, in your prayers as they deal with the aftermath.

  • Saturday morning Jeremy helped with a work day at church and then Jackson and I joined them for some cleanup on the church playground. After all the rain on Friday night it was so cold outside with the wind. I don't know why I feel like you need to know this.

  • We went to Lowe's on Saturday after leaving the church and got stuff to plant for our garden and flower beds. Because it was so windy the plants are still sitting on the porch, not planted.

  • We did go ahead and plant some flowers around our mailbox. Hopefully this will deter the person in our neighborhood that keeps letting their dog do their business at our mailbox. I would really like to be able to get the mail without fear of stepping in a big pile of dog mess for a change. If this doesn't work I'm going to take the flowers up and plant some cacti out there.

  • We had our first church service in our newly remodeled sanctuary Sunday morning and it is absolutely beautiful.

  • I'm hosting Girls Night Out on Tuesday with the girls from church and I'm cooking a ham. Walmart was selling spiral cut hams for $27.00. I think they have lost their mind. It was worth making a second stop at another grocery store on the way home for my $15.00 ham.

  • I got Jackson his first Zhu Zhu hamster, and I think Jeremy is just as amused as Jackson is. It was $5.00 well spent.

  • Anderson kicked my bladder so hard during the invitation at church on Sunday morning that I almost wet my pants. Being pregnant with your second child is definitely different than being pregnant with your first!

That is all. Have a great Monday!

Weekly Confessions

  • I’m completely confounded by the Geico gecko. It’s not so much that it’s a talking lizard, it’s more that I can’t figure out whether he’s supposed to be an Australian gecko or a British gecko. His accent totally throws me off. I’m from the heart of the deep south. If a lizard is going to try to sell me insurance he’s going to need to know the word, “y’all.”

  • I think Smart cars are the dumbest looking car ever made. I’m sorry if you own one. It may be called a Smart Car, but you look like an idiot driving it.

  • The phrase, “_______ peed his/her pants” absolutely infuriates me and has since the movie Billy Madison came out. Why in the world have people resorted to leaving the “in” out of that sentence. Come on people, it’s a 2 letter word. How much more effort would it take to say, “______ peed in his/her pants.”
  • I just realized that I’m 8 months pregnant. I waddle now. It’s very obvious.

  • I bought a new pair of khaki maternity capris the other day. I was so excited to wear them until I realized as I was pumping gas that my legs are the exact same shade of khaki as the pants. Mama needs a tan, asap!

Have a great weekend!

Would You Rather? (Interview with Jackson)

Would you rather only be able to whisper or only be able to shout?
Whisper because people might be on the phone.

Would you rather be a giant hamster or a tiny rhino?
A tiny rhino because it sounds more fun!

Would you rather be a great big giant, or a little tiny person that can fit in my hand?
A great big giant so I can step on things.

Would you rather eat pickles all day or drink mustard all day? (Jackson and I hate both pickles and mustard) Drink mustard.

Would you rather have humongous feet or a humongous nose?
A giant nose because then I would look like a grownup. (I have no idea what he's talking about!)

Would you rather have to get a shot in your booty or a shot in your arm?
A shot in my arm because it doesn't hurt to sit down then.

Would you rather hold a snake or a spider?
A spider.

Would you rather swim in a pool of Jello or play in a big mud puddle?
Play in a big mud puddle!

Would you rather have a pet porcupine or a pet skunk?
A pet skunk because I like them better.

Would you rather live at the beach or live at the zoo?
Live at the beach.

31 Weeks!!

How Far Along: 31 weeks. Less than 9 weeks to go! I can't believe that I'm already into single digits!

Size of baby: 16 inches, and weighing in at 3.3 pounds, as much as 4 naval oranges.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 6 pounds and holding. I go back to the doctor on Monday so I'll get an update then. I think I've done pretty good this week as far as weight goes.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity, all the time with the exception of a few t-shirts.

Gender: We're having another little boy, Anderson Moore Wade.

Movement: He's head down and kicking me all the time. I've felt hiccups a few times which are funny to watch.

Sleep: It's been fair this week. Just fair.

Symptoms: Heartburn and some serious round ligament pain. My tummy is starting to feel really heavy, and at time it feels like he's about to fall out!

Cravings: Strawberries and watermelon.

What I Miss: Nothing much this week. It's been pretty quiet this week.

Best Moment this week: It's been a pretty normal week with nothing much to report.

What I am looking forward to: Meeting Anderson in person in less than 9 weeks!

Expressions of Love...Or Something Like That

Last night Jackson woke up having a pretty bad coughing spell. We gave him his cough medicine and used his inhaler and I settled him back into our bed so I could keep an eye on him. We were all snuggled up together when he very quietly said, "Mama, can I ask you a question?"

Thinking that he was going to say one of my sweet sayings like, "Do you know how much I love you" I said, "Yes, Jackson. Ask me anything."

He snuggled up closer to me like he had a secret and whispered in my ear, "Mama, what's a wedgie?"

After I finished laughing I promised him that I would show him a wedgie on his Daddy this morning!

We Interrupt This Blog Post For Yet Another ER Visit

I was going to tell y'all all about our fun weekend, but just as I was about to blog about the good stuff, Jeremy accidentally weed-eated the toes on his left foot. From this experience Jeremy and I have now learned several new things.

1. Our weed-eater will probably not eat through your toes. It will, however, chew the skin off of them.

2. Toes that have the skin chewed off of them will look awful.

3. Toes that have the skin chewed off of them will hurt incredibly bad.

4. Weed-eating your toes will not get you seen in the ER any faster than a person with a head cold.

5. Sitting in the ER for almost 8 hours in the most uncomfortable chairs known to man will not do anything to help an already sore pregnancy back.

6. There are two rooms in our ER that have to remain frigidly cold. We were in one of them for 3 hours. We sat in the room for 2 hours before anyone walked in to see us.

7. Getting home at 3:00 in the morning is delightful when you have to get ready for work at 6:00.

8. Jeremy has learned a very important lesson about weed-eating with flip flops on.

9. I may or may not have said, "I told you so" about weed-eating with flip flops on because of the "don't you need shoes on" warning that I gave Jeremy 10 minutes before this incident occured.

10. Then end.

Hello, Time? I Would Like For You To Be Still

I registered Jackson for kindergarten on Wednesday. As I was waiting I was wondering where in the world 4 and a half years have gone. How is it that I'm in the process of registering Jackson for kindergarten already, when it seems like we just brought him home from the hospital? I filled out the paperwork early Wednesday morning and then brought Jackson back to the school when I got off from work for his assessment. He was so excited to be walking into his future school that he could hardly stand it! The principal of the school talked with me for a second and then she took Jackson into her office for his school assessment. He was nervous to leave me for a second, but then off he went. When she came back she said that he had done great! The principal said that although he is young (which we already knew, obviously), he was completely ready for school. Whew! I was so relieved!

After Jackson got done with his assessment the principal told us that we could feel free to walk around the school and check things out. We quickly found the kindergarten hall which is broken up into colored pods with 4 teachers in each pod. The halls were decorated with kids artwork and pictures, and the paintings were really cute. Jackson loved it, especially peeking into the classrooms! Jackson loved the cafeteria and he's already pestering me about riding the bus, which is soo not going to happen, I just haven't had the heart to tell him yet!

When we got home I gave him his bath and got him ready for church. He was telling me all about what he had to do during his assessment, things like write his name, tell her his address and phone number, draw shapes, and identify letters. He acted like everything was no big deal, easy schmezy! As I was drying him off I told him that I was probably going to cry when it was time for him to go to kindergarten. He asked why and I just told him that it's hard for me to watch him grow up so fast. His response, "You don't have to cry Mommy. I'm just going to play for a little bit and then I'll come home!"

I know that all this "growing up" stuff is inevitable, I just can't help but wonder if it ever gets any easier...

30 Weeks!!

How Far Along: 30 weeks. Less than 10 weeks to go!

Size of baby: 15.7 inches, and weighing 3 pounds, about the size of a large cabbage.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 6 pounds and holding.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity, all the time with the exception of a few t-shirts.

Gender: We're having another little boy, Anderson Moore Wade.

Movement: Per the doctor on Monday, Anderson is head down which completely explains the kicking in my rib cage right now.

Sleep: It's been better this week, with the exception of heartburn that is waking me up. I usually just roll over and ask Jeremy to get some milk for me. He's so good to me!

Symptoms: Just heartburn.

Cravings: Cookie cake. I decided Saturday night around 8:00 that I just had to have some cookie cake. Sadly I had neither a cookie cake or the ingredients (or inclination) to make one. Well, Jeremy surprised me Sunday after he got home from work with a delicious cookie cake. Like I said, he's so good to me! What I Miss: Nothing much this week. It's been pretty quiet this week.

Best Moment this week: Finding out that I've only gained 6 pounds!

What I am looking forward to: Meeting Anderson in person in less than 10 weeks!

I'll Take, "Random Things" for $200, Alex.

Being I'm entirely too busy enjoying Dancing With The Stars, I'm just going to go hodge podge tonight on y'all. Here goes...
  • I went to the OB today and had a great visit. I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant, and I've only gained 6 pounds. I'm so proud that I could shout it from the rooftop! Anderson is head down right now which completely explains why my "girls" are getting kicked all the time. And I had to get my first Rhogam shot because I am Rh negative. That's the first of two shots that I have to get, and unfortunately, neither of them is very fun.

  • Jackson is coloring right beside me now. He's got this rather adorable, yet slightly concerning "concentration" method where he sticks his tongue out the entire time he is coloring or writing. He's going to get some serious chapped lips from this, but his writing and coloring skills are amazing!

  • We are under tornado watch right now, and I'm more than slightly freaked out. Ever since the tornado hit my hometown, just 10 minutes or so from here, I've not done very good with storms. Both me and the dog need to be medicated now!

  • Jeremy and I have everything ready to register Jackson for kindergarten Wednesday morning. Be still my heart.
The end.

April Fool's Gold

Apparently the ability to produce a very strong positive pregnancy test is priceless on April Fool's Day. I was part of a scheme with a coworker to take a pregnancy test for her last Friday. Of course the test was positive, and the victim fell for it hook, line and sinker! As if that wasn't bad enough, Jeremy had to get his hair cut Friday night. We walked into the hair salon and there were two female stylists talking to each other. We've gotten our hair cut there for years now, so they know us really well. Anyways, Jeremy walked back to get his hair cut and I couldn't help but overhear the last part of the conversation between the stylists that said, "But where are we going to find a pregnant person this late at night?"

It was about that time that Ashley, Jeremy's stylist, whipped around and looked at me.

Ashley: "Wait...you're pregnant! We've been trying all day to find a pregnant person. Would you mind doing us a huge favor?"
Me: "Let me guess...it involves peeing on a stick for you."
Ashley: "How did you know?"
Me: "Because I've already done it once today!"

Since I've always got to pee, and I was fairly certain that I was already going to heck for being part of these tricks, she ended up running to dollar tree and buying two pregnancy tests for me to use, one for each of the stylists. For what was, I hope, the one and only time in my life, I took two pregnancy tests in a public restroom.

If I had really been thinking this through, I would have been charging a fee for my services. It would have been pure gold, no pun intended!

Happy Birthday Ben!

Happy Birthday, Ben!!!

Weekly Confessions

  • I will register Jackson for kindergarten next week. Despite the fact that I’ve had 4 1/2 years to prepare myself, I’m so not ready for this! Someone please pass me a nerve pill.

  • I made a really big Sunday lunch, obviously, on Sunday, and I didn’t cook again until Thursday night.

  • My restless legs have gotten so bad at night that I can’t sleep with taking Benadryl. The result of that is that I feel like I’m living in a perpetual Benadryl coma.

  • Once again the nesting has started. I made Jeremy help me clean out our closet at 9:00 the other night. He was thrilled as I'm sure you can imagine. Regardless of his whining, the end result was worth it, and the nesting urge was satisfied for now.

  • Macy is getting her teeth cleaned Friday morning. With a new baby on the way, Jeremy and I just couldn't think of a better way to spend $200 than to have our dog's dental hygiene needs taken care.

  • Jeremy and I are now backed up by Carbonite and Lifelocked. I have Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity to thank for this.

  • It has occured to me that because we are planning on being induced, I'm going to have my new baby in my arms in probably 10 weeks, give or take a few days. 10 short weeks. Any volunteers to come finish cleaning my house for me? Anyone? Well, if there are no takers, I better quit blogging and start cleaning.

Anything you need to confess?
