Tubes, Tubes, Tubes

Today is the day Anderson gets his tubes put in. We have to be at the surgical center at 6:00, but we have no idea what time the procedure will start. Anderson hasn’t been able to eat or drink anything after midnight, and we’re more than a little concerned about that. A is just like me; when his eyes open he is ready for food! Jeremy gave him an extra bottle last night around 11:30, but I don’t expect that it is going to fool our little man.

Please pray for Anderson during his procedure. We’ve been through this 3 times with Jackson, so we know what to expect, we just pray everything goes perfectly. I’ll update later!

Updated: Anderson did amazing with his surgery. Dr. Knox said that his ears weren't bad at all and that the surgery will relieve the pressure he has been feeling in his ears. We've already seen today that he is being much more vocal, and other than being a little fussy and tired this morning, he's done super. Thanks for your prayers!

What I Learned This Weekend

  • Unpacking from the beach isn’t nearly as fun as packing for the beach.
  • Murphy’s Law of Mail Delivery: When you are super excited about a pending delivery (like, perhaps, one’s first Scentsy order delivery) the mail will always be delayed. Always.
  • A baby cutting a tooth is similar to a puppy cutting a tooth. They both chew on everything and new teeth are razor sharp.
  • Jackson has decided that he wants an Angry Birds pool party for his birthday this year. Good thing I have until August to figure out how to pull this off.
  • Murphy’s Law of Family Pictures: We had family pictures this weekend and Anderson smiled exactly 1 time during the hour long session. He then proceeded to laugh and cut up the entire way home. Such a stinker! The pictures turned out good anyway!

Waking Up In Paradise

I just got back from a sunrise walk on the beach where I found some of the biggest seashells, completely intact. It's hard to imagine being up to my thighs in the ocean in February, but the shells were completely worth it. The water is cool but very calm and watching the sunrise over the ocean is one of the most peaceful ways to wake up. I should do this more often! Y'all take care and I'll check in later.

Beach Bound

Today I'm heading to the beautiful Alabama gulf coast for a work conference. I'm really going to miss my boys but somehow I think that powdery white sand, glistening beaches and temperatures in the low 70's might make me feel a little better about how much I miss everyone!

Yeah, I still have to work, but it's work at the beach!

A Scentsational Start

Friday night, after a super long day traveling for work, I had my Scentsy consultant launch party. It was a huge success! I had some great friends and family come out and browse the amazing Scentsy products, and they were so generous with helping me get started as a Scentsy consultant. We had 7 ladies drop by and 7 kids come with their Mama’s, so it was wild and fun, but we managed just fine. I’ve been so excited entering the orders into the website and browsing all the fun stuff and I can’t wait for my next party.

If you are interested in what Scentsy has to offer, most everything is 10% off for the month of February and there are some great deals to be had. Check out this link to my party page and let me know if you have any questions!!

Average Or Exceptional?

Sunday morning I got to experience a sermon that really spoke to me. Our pastor preached a sermon that encouraged us to be part of the “Courageous” movement and to be willing to stand up for what we believe it, even when it isn’t the popular thing to do. One of the bullet points included a phrase that has stuck with me for days now, “Average or exceptional?”

I have been thinking about that phrase constantly since then. Bro. Bruce was wanting us to think about what kind of person we want to be, and whether or not we want to be an average or exceptional person. For me I immediately got to thinking about every part of life that “average or exceptional” can apply to:

Do I want to be an average or exceptional wife?

Do I want to be an average or exceptional mother?

Do I want to be an average or exceptional daughter?

Do I want to be an average or exceptional sister?

Do I want to be an average or exceptional friend?

Do I want to be an average or exceptional employee?

Do I want to be an average or exceptional Christian?

I  guess I’m a point in my life where I’m tired of settling for being average in regards to anything.  If I’m only shooting for average, then I’m selling myself short in so many ways. Average is only 50%, which is failing miserably. I should want to seek out perfection in regards to what kind of person I am to the people around me. I don’t want to be just an average wife/mother/sister daughter/friend or employee, and I certainly shouldn’t want to be just an average Christian. Every single person I encounter deserves better than average, and my Heavenly Father deserves far more than that. I wrote the words “Average or Exceptional?” on my bathroom mirror as a constant reminder to strive to be an exceptional person in every aspect of my life, and I feel like “average or exceptional” is going to be my mantra for this season in my life.

"Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message):

CONSULTANT-BRAND2_0-LOGO

Scentsy is known for “wickless” candles, in more than 80 different scents. Their warmers use a light bulb to warm the wax so you never have to worry about an open flame or soot, so they are so much safer around kids and pets. Scentsy has full and mid size warmers with amazing scents to choose from; wall plug ins, room sprays, travel tins with fragrance, perfect for places like lockers, Scentsy buddies, small stuffed animals that have openings for scent packs, fragrance foam hand sanitizer, and Scent circles that are perfect for hanging in your car and so much more. As I type this my house smells like “Welcome Home,” a perfect mix of cinnamon and spice and let me just say that it is Heaven on earth!

I’m hosting my Launch Party next Friday night and because everyone loves a giveaway, I’m going to give one lucky reader a surprise little gift featuring one of Scentsy’s amazing scents. Here’s what you need to do:

We're The Proud Owner Of An 8 Month Old!

Anderson is 8 months old today! Jeremy and I went away to a one night marriage retreat on Friday night and the boys stayed over at my parents. As Murphy's law of parenting would have it, Anderson started crawling while we were gone! Such a little stinker! His crawling isn't super effective yet, but he is definitely getting from point A to point B on his own. My little man needs to slow down with all this growing up! Enjoy the video and I'll have his 8 month shots up this evening on the Every 5 Days blog.

100 Days Of Fun

Tuesday was Jackson’s 100th day of kindergarten. His assignment was to do a poster with 100 things on it. Sounds easy enough, but I dare you to try to come up with 100 different things that will actually stay glued to a poster board! We raided the house, first aid kit, bathroom drawers, front yard, Nana’s art supplies, our art supplies and a few other places to get the project finished. We had everything from a Q-tip and dental floss to a bubble wand and sea shell. My favorite thing was probably an empty box of animal crackers. I was super pleased with the end result, and I really liked how we made a stick and 2 free CD’s into a “100” for the center of his poster. It’s hard to believe that Jackson is already 100 days into school, and from here on out it’s all downhill. He’s doing amazing, and we are so proud of our big boy!

All About Anderson

My sweet Anderson is still having a rough time. He’s doing better, but he has a terrible cough. He was coughing bad enough that he went back to the doctor yesterday and was diagnosed with an ear infection and given prescriptions for steroids and breathing treatments. We gave him the first breathing treatment last night and he hated it! He is breathing better this morning, so I know it helped him. Unfortunately for him, the more he cries and fusses during the treatment, the deeper the medicine gets into his lungs. It’s hard to see him so upset and crying over something, but on the whole, his fussing is actually better for him right now because it will help him breathe better after the treatment.

Personality wise Anderson has gotten spoiled rotten over the past few days. He wants to be held all the time, and if you put him down to play he looks at you like, “What do you think you are doing? I’m supposed to be in your lap!” He is refusing to sleep in his crib at night and for right now we are letting him get his way and sleep in our room. It’s not going to be like this for long, but Jeremy and I both know that we will cross that bridge when he is feeling better. It’s not worth the battle right now when he’s still sick. We’re just going to love on him and cuddle with him as much as he likes, and we’ll figure out everything else later.

That’s it for today. Y’all have a great day!
