Purex Baby Detergent Giveaway!!!

I'm lucky to be a member of Purex insiders, where I receive product samples and recently was given a bottle of Purex Baby detergent to review. We've dealt with eczema for years with Jackson, and now it seems as though Anderson's skin is just as sensitive. Because of this, we've moved away from harsh detergents and have been super pleased with the Purex brand to take care of our clothes, while still being gentle on our skin.

Purex Baby detergent is hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested and formulated to be extra gentle on your little one’s sensitive skin, and did not disappoint me! Purex Baby detergent leaves your baby’s clothes smelling fresh and clean, and won’t harm the flame resistance of sleepwear. I know from personal experience that Purex is great at getting rid of tough stains, while still being gentle enough to use on babies clothes. For us, it's a win/win/win; my clothes are clean, my kids don't  have an allergic reaction to harsh chemicals, and Purex detergent is very affordable which is super important to my family budget.

Here's the fun part for y'all....I'm giving away a coupon for a free bottle of Purex Baby detergent to 3 lucky winners!

Here's how to enter:
1. Leave me a comment telling me your toughest stain. Make sure you post your email address so I can get in touch with you.

Spelling Word Drama

I would like to shoot whoever (whomever?) it was that decided how words in the English language were going to be spelled, and settled on these spellings:

Her: Which could easily be spelled "hur" to a first grader.
Shirt: Which could easily be spelled "shurt" or "shert" to a first grader.
Bird: Which could easily be spelled "burd" or "berd" to a first grader.
Done: Which could easily be spelled "dune" to a first grader.
Hurt: Which could easily be spelled "hert" to a first grader.
Fur: Which could easily be spelled "fir" (and sometimes is) or "fer" to a first grader.

Needless to say, our spelling words this week were a combination of er/ir/ur words which led to a meltdown of catastrophic proportions last night. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and that was just me. You should have seen Jackson.

It's gonna be interesting to see how Jackson does on his test today...

One more thing...Is it Spring Break yet?

A Boy And His BB Gun!

We got Jackson his very first BB gun this Saturday and then we went to the property of some friends from church for target practice. We had such a good time! Jackson loved his BB gun (and had really good aim!), but he was super thrilled to be able to shoot my Mom's new pistol, one of Dad's rifles and then an AR 15. By far, the AR 15 was everyone's favorite gun to shoot. We're thinking of getting a gun, and up until this weekend I had been leaning on getting a small pistol, something that could be easily concealed. Now, I'm all about getting a shotgun. Way more bang for your buck, and lots more fun to shoot. And seriously, doesn't that AR 15 look awesome!

I'm guessing it's a matter of time before I'm a card carrying member of the NRA, and Papa and Gigi better be ready for Jackson to bring his BB gun to Mississippi on our next visit. That boy is something else, and I'm certain my anti-gun days are long gone!

Tuesday Confessional

I prefer red, pink and purple candy over any other colors.  Whether it's Sweetarts, Starburst, Skittles, Mentos, Lifesavers, if it's red, pink or purple, I save it to the end, because I love to have a pile of my favorite candy at the end. Is that weird?

Anything you need to confess?

The "F" Word

The flu hit our house hard last week. Jackson was the first to go down with it on Tuesday, the day he was supposed to have gone back to school. He was given the rest of the week off, and my Mom was so sweet to watch him for us. Wednesday was fine, but by Thursday I was having some major body aches and decided to get tested. My q-tip swab barely hit the test before it was registering positive for Flu A. I was given a prescription for tamiflu and sent home to quarantine myself from the other half of my family.

It did no good...

I got a call from Jeremy before lunch on Friday that he wasn't feeling good. He also got tested and wouldn't you know it, he was also positive. We had put Anderson on a preventative tamiflu course (with a doctor's permission, but NOT the permission of our pediatrician's office). When our doctor's office is paying for our copays, then they can decide whether or not our child will get a preventative dose of tamiflu. So there.

Anderson ended up at the doc-in-the-box Friday night with a major ear infection, but NO flu!!!

So that's how things stand right now. 100% of our family got the flu shot, and it did no good for 75% of us! Jeremy and I are both heading back to work today, but we just feel like we've been hit by a truck. The kids, however, are rocking and rolling. Isn't that how it always is?

Wish us luck for the next few days....we're gonna need it!

Another Wade Bites The Dust

Jackson got diagnosed with the flu and an ear infection yesterday. We made it through Christmas holidays with him incident and illness free, and yesterday he was supposed to start school back. He woke up a little early, asked for a breathing treatment, and an hour later dozed back off after telling me how freezing cold he was. It was like little warning bells started going off in my head, and within an hour we had our flu diagnosis.

He can't go back to school until Monday, and he's on a 5 day course of Tamiflu and an antiobiotic. Our whole family got the flu shot, so hopefully his case will be a lesser version, and the rest of us will be covered.

Please pray hard that the rest of us don't get it....this Mama is on the verge of a nervous breakdown right now.

Blessings From The Dinner Table

The other night, it was like a miracle occurred at our house. I had a four course meal prepared from scratch, well balanced with only the freshest, organic fruits and vegetables, and hormone free meat. We were eating at 6, so not too early and not too late, and everyone was on their best behavior. Our table was set with our finest china, cloth napkins and real silverware. Our family of four gathered around the dinner table and gave thanks to our Heavenly Father above for what he has so richly blessed us with, and then after our prayer, we began to eat our delicious meal. I heard nothing but, "This is amazing" and "You're the best Mom and cook in the whole world!" Everyone cleaned the plates and asked for seconds, and all was right with the world.

And then I woke up....

In reality this is what I hear around the dinner table...
  • "We're having that again?"
  • "I'm not eating that, it has ______ in it!"
  • "EEEEHHHHHHH!!!" (That is the sound Anderson makes when Macy tries to get his food)
  • "Will you make me some eggs?"
  • "Fine. I'll eat 3 more bites, but then I'm never going to eat it ever again."
  • "I'm just not going to eat and then I'll go to bed hungry and you'll be sad."
And these are my responses...
  • "Yes, we're having that again, and I like it, therefore I'm going to cook it."
  • "Tough stuff. Pick it out."
  • "Would somebody PLEASE get Macy out of the house!!!!
  • "No, I'm not cooking you some eggs. This is not Burger King, and you will not get it your way."
  • "Yes, you will eat 3 more bites, and yes, you will eat it again."
  • "No sweetie, light of my life, darling child of mine, if you don't eat, you will NOT get any snacks, and you will be the only one sad that you are going to bed hungry. Not me!"
I'm getting payback ten fold from everything that I ever gave to my Mom...
