Random Thursday Thoughts

  • Jackson: "I'm feeling a little gassy right now, but I'm trying to hold it in." Me: "I appreciate that more than you will ever know."
  • You know you've been playing Candy Crush too much when you see 4 cars of the same color in a row driving down the road, and all you can think about is that they should be swapped for a striped candy.
  • Speaking of Candy Crush, that growing chocolate stuff is driving me insane.
  • We have a new Jack's restaurant in town. I dropped by last night for a quick supper when I was on my way home from the pool, and they made me a ham biscuit off the breakfast menu without a moment of hesitation because they are awesome like that. Talk about customer service!
  • Anderson goes for his 2 year check up today. Little man has no clue about the shots that are in his near future. I'm anxious about what his doctor will think about his lack of speech. We have already decided (with his speech therapist) to increase his therapy to twice a month starting in August. We all agree that Anderson is just being stubborn, but his lack of progress is really starting to bother me.
  • I've got our advanced dining reservations made for our Disney trip, and our countdown is moving along just swimmingly. Jackson still doesn't know, and I'm uber pleased with myself for being able to keep a secret for so long.
  • I returned to the lap pool last night for the first time in 10 years, and managed to pull off swimming 1,000 yards. My lungs were killing me, but man oh man, it felt good!
That's all for today! Y'all have a great Thursday!

Such A Good Weekend!

So I've had a very busy few weeks at work, and I desperately needed some fun family time this weekend. I surprised Jackson Friday night with a trip to go see Monsters University and we had such a good time. The movie was hilarious, and we had a blast! Saturday morning Jeremy and I told Jackson that we were going on a trip, but we wouldn't tell him where we were going. We started our trip off with breakfast at our brand new Jack's restaurant, and then hit the road. We gave Jackson hints on our trip and he finally (with a lot of help) figured out that he was going to Desoto Caverns in Childersburg, AL. He's never been to anything like this, and he was super excited. We toured the caverns as soon as we arrived and Jackson loved it for about the first 40 minutes of the 1 hour tour. Then he told me that he needed to potty. Needless to say, he had to hold it for the next 20 minutes which I think dampened his enthusiasm for the tour a little bit! It didn't help his potty needs that water kept dripping on us from the cavern roof, which only reminded him how much he needed to potty! After our tour (and a quick trip to the bathroom!) we checked out the attractions and did tons of stuff like panning for gemstones, cannon ball wars, go carts, mazes and toilet racers. Jackson now has 3 small baggies of gemstones, including fool's gold, and he thinks he's rich! We had a junk food lunch of nachos, coke and pizza, and then let the boys check out the pirate ship playground. It was a great family day, and we had a blast. Enjoy the pictures!

Is It Only Tuesday?

Hey y'all! It's been a crazy few days around here. We finished Vacation Bible School on Friday night, and had such a good, but exhausting, week with that. After clean up and setting the room back up for Sunday school we didn't get home until 9:30 Friday night, and Saturday morning I had pictures scheduled for the boys at 8:00 (what was I thinking?!?). The pictures turned out super cute, and I'll try to remember to share some this week. They were taken at a bamboo forest in Prattville, and I was really pleased with how they turned out.

The rest of Saturday was taken up with grocery shopping, a short nap for Anderson, and then taking a swim over at Mom and Dad's house.

Sunday morning was a regular Sunday in that Jeremy had to work, but I had my family over for spaghetti for lunch. It was yummy, but I was super tired. Anderson took a very long (3 1/2 hours) nap, and when Jeremy finally went in his room to wake him up, Anderson was burning up. He had a 103.3 fever, so instead of us taking an afternoon swim, I ended up taking A to the doctor. He was diagnosed with pneumonia, and given antibiotics and breathing treatments. He has to stay out of school through Wednesday, and if he's not 100% better in a few days, he has to go back to the doctor. He's staying over at my parents during the day so Jeremy and I can work.

And at work, the best part, we're auditing charts. Again. Whoo-hooo! I feel so brain dead right now, and it's only Tuesday. Hopefully today will go fast, and the rest of the week will fly by.

Hope y'all have a great day, and I'll touch base with you tomorrow!

Facing Fear, Trusting God

We've got Vacation Bible School going on this week at our church, and our theme is Colossal Coaster World: Facing Fear, Trusting God. I always love working on my VBS room, and this year was no different. It took about 20 hours to finish the room this year, and I was super pleased with the results. Painting the Ferris wheel was the hardest part this year; it took 3 1/2 hours just to paint the outline on the wall, and then adding the colors took another hour. The carousel turned out very pretty, and the tent adds a big punch of color to the room. I consider it a success!

The theme this year has been super appropriate for me. I've got a situation I'm facing right now, and fearful doesn't come close to describing how scared I feel looking down the barrel of this gun. Imagine my surprise when all week I've got to teach the kids lessons on "Facing Fear and Trusting God." God definitely has a sense of humor. The lessons, music and verse have been so appropriate for what I needed this week, and I'm just doing my best to remember that God knows the future, even on days like today when I don't. If you don't mind, please say a prayer for me today. I would gratefully appreciate it!

Enjoy the pictures!

The Tooth Fairy Finally Came To Visit!!

Jackson lost his very first tooth last night! He told us after Vacation Bible School that his tooth was hurting, and when I looked at it, the tooth was super wiggly. Jackson was so excited about it, that he almost had Jeremy tie a string to it, but he chickened out. Instead, after brushing his teeth he kept playing with it and out it came!

Jackson put the tooth in his tooth pillow and the Tooth Fairy brought him $10!! This was because it's taken him forever to lose a tooth, so just for this first one, he got a little extra!

Jackson is thrilled with his new smile, and this Mama is tickled with his sweet snaggle tooth grin!

My World In 50 Words

Vacation Bible School starts tonight.

VBS room took 20 hours this year.

I’m super pleased with my room.

Post to come later.

Didn’t sleep enough last night.

Probably didn’t sleep because I’m not prepped for VBS.

Weight loss total now at 67 pounds.

It’s going to be a busy week!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Anderson!!!

Dear Anderson,

Happy 2nd Birthday sweet little man! I can hardly believe that you, my precious baby boy, are now 2 years old! You have been such a blessing to our family and not a day goes by that I don't thank God that he picked me to be your Mama. You are such a funny little boy; I think at times that you forget you have a voice because you rely on Jackson and your own funny little method of pointing and grunting to get your point across. We call you our little Caveman! For someone that isn't speaking much, you definitely know how to get what you want! You now say a grand total of 10 words which isn't much for a 2 year old, but we are so proud of those words!

At 2 years old you love to do anything Jackson does, even if you don't quite get how to do it. You are so cute trying though! You try your hardest to keep up with Jackson and you do a pretty good job! Those little legs of yours can run, and the funniest thing, you laugh the entire time you are running! You love to dance and break down every time you hear a tune. Cutest thing ever! And my favorite thing: you give the sweetest hugs and kisses. You are such a loving little boy!

Anderson, when we found out that you were a little boy I was overjoyed! How lucky was I as a Mama to be blessed by two little boys! You have taught me through your own precious little individual self not to compare you to Jackson or other kids, that you will do things your own way in your own time, and that different does not mean wrong. We have been blessed beyond measure by having you as a part of our family, and I look forward to what God will do with you as you grow. I love you more than words can express, and I'm so lucky to call you my son!

Love always,
Mama

Finished With Baseball! (For This Season!)

Jackson's first year of playing Dixie Youth baseball is through and the A's had a great year! Jackson really progressed with his skills, and he ended up making 4 homeruns this season! He started off as shortstop and ended the season as third baseman. Ever since baseball has ended, all Jackson wants to watch on TV is ESPN with his Daddy, so it looks like he's caught the sports bug big time. Jackson's league had their closing ceremony last Tuesday night and Jackson got his first baseball trophy. After the ceremony was over, Jackson wanted to run the bases "just one more time" before we left the field. He's really looking forward to fall ball later this year, and this mama is looking forward to watching her big boy take the field again. Baseball, it seems, will be in my future for a long time!

Anderson's Birthday Party!

We had Anderson's 2nd birthday party this weekend at the YMCA indoor playground in Prattville. We had such a good time! Anderson had 15 friends come out and play with him to celebrate his birthday, and the kids had such a good time running around wild! The party theme was "frogs" and Anderson's outfit was so super cute on him. It was a low-key party for us; we only served cake and ice cream and drinks, but the best part was that I didn't have to set up or clean up anything! That's my kind of party! Anderson got lots of super cute and fun toys, and he's had a blast playing with them since Saturday. Our house is a mess, but it's all good! Enjoy the party pics!
