Around My Neck Of The Woods

  • Baseball season is in full swing. Jackson is playing first base during practice (cause he's a lefty), so that's been an adjustment for him from playing third base last year, but we are hoping he picks up quickly.
  • I'm in full party planning mode with Anderson's 3rd birthday party. It's going to be "Mouse and Ninnie" themed party because A is obsessed with the mouse right now. I've been busy pinning away some cute ideas, and I'm so excited about it!
  • Speaking of the mouse, you may know my current obsession with Disney has gotten really bad. If you haven't seen it, the Disney blog that I'm doing with some friends has a new web address. You can now find us at www.memorymakinmoms.com and we are updating lots of fun Disney stuff several times a week. We are also looking for guest bloggers if you are interested in doing a Q&A about your love of Disney. If you would like to guest blog, drop us a line at memorymakinmoms@gmail.com and we will set you up!
  • We are pricing a Disney cruise for next year. Wowzers, the mouse cost some Meeska Mooska Moula, but it looks like it would be amazing. Hopefully we will be sailing next September. Fingers crossed for us!
  • I'm itching for a new tattoo. Thinking of a very small white Mickey ears outline, like a hidden Mickey, in keeping with my current Disney obsession. We shall see!
  • Aruba has been booked! So excited for our tropical getaway in a few months!
What's going on in your neck of the woods?

Deer Dynasty

Jackson went deer hunting for the first time this past weekend, and let me just say that I had one excited little boy on my hands. I took him to Greenville, and he went out with my fabulous Aunt Net (Annette) and her sweet husband, Walter. Jackson was decked to the nines with his camo gear, hunter orange and mud boots (and looking mighty handsome!). He was so stinking excited! I told him that if he killed anything, that I would be so proud to have it mounted. Aunt Net asked me when we got there what I wanted to do if he shot anything. I told her, "You can have the meat, I want the head!" They ended up sitting in 2 stands, but didn't see anything. Jackson wasn't disappointed though because, "Mom, we saw deer tracks, I heard a coyote, and I even got to pee in a bucket!" Ha!

Even though he didn't see a deer this past Saturday, Jackson had a blast, and can't wait to go again. Here's hoping I'll end up with a deer on my wall next year!

Sunny Saturday

After the coldest week in recent memory, we desperately needed some sunshine this past weekend. We headed out to Jackson's school playground and I set the boys loose. They ran wild and loved every second! I definitely preferred the school playground over the park playground because it is wide open with no hiding spaces. Definitely good for a quiet toddler! After naptime, Jeremy and I took the boys to the skating rink and ran their energy down even further. Anderson decided after one trip around the rink that he was done, and Jackson was way too cool to have his mom snapping his pics at the skating rink. Apparently, I was embarrassing him! All-in-all, a pretty stinking good Saturday after a very squirrly week! Enjoy the pics!

Snow Days In The South

In case you hadn't heard, we had some snow in Alabama last week! :) This was Jackson's 3rd time seeing snow fall at our house, and Anderson's very first snow! Both kids had a blast playing in the snow/ice, although Anderson preferred walking Macy around the neighborhood to actually touching the snow. In typical 2 year old fashion, he refused to wear warm gloves, and the cotton ones he would let us put on him got cold very, very fast. Jackson loved every second of his snow time, and it was all we could do to convince him to come into the house and get warm. Enjoy the pics of my snow bunnies!

3 Dueling Forces That Brought Me Down

So January came and went with only 4 blog posts from me. I should be ashamed. Here is the scoop. I’ve been dealing with 3 dueling forces around here:

1. I work for a tax firm. We are crazy busy around here from January 1st through April 15th. I’ve been told we have a better track record for attendance than the post office. I’m loving my job, it’s just very, very busy, and when I get home I’m pretty much brain dead. Even 2nd grade homework is almost enough to do me in.

That brings me to #2. The ice storm that brought the south to its knees. I had a doctor’s appointment last Tuesday morning that, thankfully, Jeremy drove me to. We finished up around 9:30 and headed into Montgomery and we weren’t 5 miles into our drive when we figured out we had a major issue brewing with the weather/roads. The temps were in the 20’s and when you have freezing rain at that temp, it spells disaster for roads and bridges. Unfortunately, there isn’t a single way to get to our house from our work places without crossing multiple bridges. Bridges + ice = disaster. It took us 1 ½ hours to get back home after getting the boys from my moms, and we were stuck at home for 2 days. No fun at all. Jeremy even missed 2 days of work, which, if you know Jeremy, is a big deal. We just couldn’t safely get into town. We got a little bit of snow, but mostly ice. And y’all, it was COLD. I have never heard sweeter words than, “The schools WILL be open on Friday.”

And #3….my blood pressure is still all over the place. Several of my meds have been adjusted trying to level my numbers out, but I’m still getting way too high, and then have to take my emergency meds, and then I bottom out. Neither high nor low blood pressure is any fun. I had a renal (kidney) ultrasound this morning to see if my kidneys are the source of my blood pressure problems. There could be a blockage to blame, but I haven’t heard the results yet.

So that’s the scoop around Wade’s World right now. Not very fun, but it is what it is.I promise to try to do better this week, just bear with me! Y’all take care!
