When I first saw the previous for TLC’s new series, “Sister Wives,” I admit that I was intrigued and knew that I was going to have to find out about this show, and I tuned in last night for the series premiere. The show is about a polygamist family living in Utah, that currently has 1 husband, his 3 wives (only 1 is a legal marriage) and their 13 children. The first episode featured the 3 wives, and briefly introduced Kody’s new wife, a 31 year old with 3 children of her own.
For a reality TV junkie like myself, I just couldn’t turn away. This family lives in a huge home that is broken into three separate apartments, one for each family unit. Kody is on a 3 day rotation within each family unit, and makes sure to spend time with his entire family daily.
The family life seemed rather ordinary, if you consider 3 wives and 13 kids under one roof “normal.” Two of the wives work outside the home, and the third wife, Christine, does the lion’s share of cooking, cleaning and laundry around the house. All but one of Kody’s wives grew up in the polygamist lifestyle, so for them this is completely normal.
However, putting all religious differences aside, I did have a few observations about the show.
1. I would so hate to be the wife stuck doing all the housework.
2. Oh my heavens, I cannot imagine having to cook for that many people.
3. Is this family going to get in trouble for outing their lifestyle?
4. It was like watching the Duggars…but not.
5. Since Jeremy can hardly keep up with my antics and drama, I’m pretty sure I don’t have to worry about him wanting to take on another wife!
Did you watch?

I saw the previews for this show but forgot to watch it... I'm just not sure how I feel about it. I watched a Dateline special about a year ago (I think) about this topic and all the wives eventually left the guy.
I guess with one marriage only being legal, there isn't a law being broken.
I just can't figure out how there isn't any jealousy - and I'll be intrigued to find out if that plays a part in the show. It's human nature to be jealous - and it's even worse with females... so this is just crazy.
I need to watch so I can give you a full review! :-D
DUDE. I am going downstairs right now this minute to see if I can catch a repeat. Fascinating.
Dan always says in Bible study that he doesn't know how Solomon had so many wives, that he can hardly handle his own. Hardy har har.
I watched part of it. It was like a car wreck..I just couldn't look away so I sat staring at it! :O I wondered if they would get in trouble. And I didn't catch the part about them not all being legal unions. So that's how he's getting around the laws then? Legally he's married and having 'in house' affairs. UGH. He is so charismatic and likable. But yes, very weird. I know my hubs would NOT want to try to keep up with PMS times three or four or however many ladies he ends up having in his life. What I wanna know is how did he have time going all over to date this new lady when he's heavily obligated at home??? Ca-reeeeepy!
I didn't watch, but I was tempted to. I seriously can't imagine...
