Attention K-Mart shoppers...we have a Biter!

When I picked Jackson up from school yesterday, I was informed by his teacher that Jackson had bitten a little boy in his class, not once, but TWICE yesterday morning. These bites were hard enough that there was still a mark on the little boys hand when I picked Jackson up at 5:00. Whoops.

Okay...so what do we do. I know that Jackson has bitten me in the past, and our usual reaction is just a very firm "NO" and sometimes he gets put in his crib for an age-appropriate timeout. He seems to think that being told "no" is funny, and he just breaks out laughing. This is not cute behavior, although when he smiles, it is sooo hard to not start laughing. I know, I know. Laughing at him just encourages him, so I generally have to bite my lip to not start. If I even crack a smile, it's over. Does this make him a miniature juvenile delinquent?

After my little talk with the teacher (she confirmed that he gets a strong "No" and timeout), he actually bit me last night, and it HURT. I am desperately needing parental advice....please leave comments about suggestions that could work. I really don't want Jackson having a file started on him at 15 months that could influence whether or not he gets into Harvard or Yale...

Gracie has not yet had a biting phase (crossing my fingers that she won't) so I am not much help.

But please be reassured that unless Mr. Jackson continues his biting phase well into adulthood, Harvard and Yale will probably not turn him down.
