Weekly Confessions

  • I have to blame pinterest for the fact that Anderson’s birthday party has gone over the top. What originally started out as a “simple” birthday party has now turned into a golf extravaganza. I blame pinterest.
  • Vacation Bible School starts on the 11th and I have just barely cracked open my leaders guide. Normally I’m knee deep in VBS, but having 2 kids, working full time and planning a golf themed birthday party has cramped my style. Hopefully I can still pull it off.
  • Jackson starts t ball during Vacation Bible School. We are going from having karate once a week for 30 minutes to having t ball twice a week for an hour. I’m so no prepared for organized sports.
  • Did I mention that A’s birthday party is this weekend and I’m nowhere near ready? How is it even possible that I’m about to have a 1 year old. I need time to slow down.
  • Last Sunday we bought what might well be our last container of formula forever, and we are starting A on milk today. Typing that sentence made my ovaries twinge.
  • Jackson finished kindergarten yesterday and is officially out of school for the summer. He did amazing in kindergarten, and got all "P's" on his final report card. I'm so proud of my big boy! First grade, here we come!

Weekly Confessions

  • I was filling up our van the other day and I had an entire conversation in my head about what I would tell President Obama if I was given the chance. It pretty much started out with, “I hope you like all the vacations you’ve had”, which led into some rants about gas prices and how I don’t remember the last time we actually filled our van up all the way because gas is so expensive and ended with “I can’t wait until you are filing for unemployment benefits.”

  • Our new couch and loveseat are amazing! They are a soft, almost velvet like, material and I just can’t stop myself from petting my couch. Yes, you read that right. I’ve been petting my couch.

  • I ate cheese dip from Moe’s for dinner Thursday night. They have the best corn salsa in the world. When it’s mixed with the best queso dip in the world, you have like this awesome trifecta of queso, corn and jalapenos that just can’t be beat.

  • We are going to the lake on Saturday. I’m so excited about taking Anderson on his first boat ride. I’m sure he’s going to love it! Jeremy is thrilled that we picked the first Saturday of college football season to go! I figure I can send him inside with Anderson when it’s time for his naps and Jeremy and veg out and watch the games for a little while. Two birds…one stone!

  • I made my own homemade laundry soap tonight with a recipe a friend gave me. It took only 5 minutes, costs practically nothing to make, and you only use 1 tablespoon per load. I figure I’ll get about 60 loads of clothes cleaned for about $2.  I’ll let you know if a few days if I like the way the clothes are getting cleaned.

That’s all for today. Hope y’all have a great weekend and super Labor Day Holiday!

Weekly Confessions

  • It's hot as hades outside and I'm still pregnant. I deserve a trophy for carrying Jackson until the middle of August. Clearly me being 5 years older has taken a toll on my ability to function in the summer heat while still growing a human.

  • Jeremy and I watched part of the spelling bee on ESPN last night, and we both felt like idiots. Those kids are brilliant, but I'm guessing that their social calendars are pretty empty!

  • Today is my last day of work before I go on maternity leave. Apparently the secret to me getting the summer off after my school days is for me to get pregnant. Sadly, I'm pretty sure this will be my last summer vacation!

  • My hair is freshly dyed and I've had a pedicure done. I can let myself go into labor at any time now that those crucial things have been taken care of!

  • I'm nine months pregnant. It's not like my life is full of anything fun to confess. I'm too sluggish to do anything more taxing than turning my laptop on.

  • Speaking of laptop, I'm totally planning on blogging my labor so I expect lots of comments and encouragement. Mmkay?

Y'all have a great weekend!

Weekly Confessions

  • This pregnancy is officially kicking my butt. I've hit the wall, and it's going to be a long 12 days.

  • We are thisclose to finishing the nursery, and I'm so ready. It's been a very long journey, and I'm really pleased with the results. We have just a few more things to add to the walls and then I will post pictures. I'm super pleased with the room, and I can't wait to show you Anderson's neck of the woods.

  • I still haven't packed my bag for the hosptial. Every day I say, "this" is the day that I'm going to get it done, and then I don't. Apparently impending labor does nothing to change my level of procastination.

  • I'm still needing a few more ideas for Jackson's big brother gift. We've decided to do a gift from Jackson to Anderson (already done), a gift from Anderson to Jackson, and then one from Jeremy and I to Jackson. Jackson has been extremely jealous of the shower gifts for Anderson, and I definitely don't want him to think that he's been forgotten. I bought Jackson a real T-ball bat and t-balls, a color wonder set, and I still feel like I need something else. Any ideas? I'm also planning on doing a little activity bag for Jackson with crayons, coloring book and stuff like that for the hosptial. I guess I just need to add it to my list of stuff to do. Sadly my list keeps getting longer, and not much is getting crossed off!

  • Speaking of gifts, I'm completely caught up with thank you notes. It feels so good to say that!

  • And lastly, we were invited to go to the lake this weekend. I was a little nervous because I'm past the point where I'm allowed to travel, and the lake is about an hour away. I called the Dr's office and I got the okay to travel, but then the conversation took a sharp turn:
  • Nurse: "Did you say you were going to the lake?"

Me: "Yes, we are going to Lay Lake."

Nurse: "You know that you aren't allowed to ride a boat unless it is a pontoon boat, right?"

Me: "Are you kidding? They have a ski boat."

Nurse: "That would be a no-go. We can't have you being jostled like that on a ski boat. Did I just ruin your day?"

    Me: "Pretty much."

Oh well, at least I'll still have a great time at the lake, even if I am the only one left sitting on the dock!

    Weekly Confessions

    • I find myself constantly thinking of potential facebook status updates based on whatever random activity I happen to be doing at the time. This occasionally even happens in the middle of the night, but so far I have refrained from actually sharing a status in the middle of the night. At this point a middle of the night update would probably be something like, "Amy is up to go potty. Again. Just thought you might like to know."

    • If you aren't friends with me on facebook, you should be. My status updates are pretty good.

    • Jeremy and I desperately need someone to help us teach our left handed son how to tie his shoes. He is stubborn just like his momma and won't let us help him even though he has no idea what he's doing.

    • I had a breakdown in Anderson's room Thursday night. There is so much to do and I am completely overwhelmed at how little time I have left to finish everything. How in the world have 34 weeks flown by?

    • We still haven't completely unpacked from the beach, and we've been back since Monday.

    • I am having some major Braxton-Hicks contractions the past couple of days. It's funny to see the look on Jeremy's face every time one hits me. He's like, "Do we need to go to the hospital?"

    • I bought an industrial size bottle of my favorite shampoo, popped the pump on it, and discovered it was conditioner instead of shampoo. Thankfully this was before I took my shower.

    • I got a pedicure this week and I'm convinced the Asian people were talking about how bad my heels were.

    • Jeremy gave me my early Mother's Day present, a 1-hour pregnancy massage that is scheduled for Saturday. I can't wait. That was the reason I went ahead and got my pedicure, so the masseuse wouldn't see my feet and think, "This girl really needs a pedicure!"

I guess that's it for today. Anything you need to confess?

    Weekly Confessions

    • We have finally started working hard in Anderson's room. I wouldn't say that there is a light at the end of the tunnel yet, but at least we can find the light switch now.

    • Jackson has learned a new word: Mommett. As best we can tell, he's picked up on my "Dadgummit" phrase and morphed it into the word, "Mommett." He even gets the inflection right.

    • Jeremy and I have spent the last 20 minutes watching my tummy move. Anderson has been putting on quite a show tonight!

    • I'm so distracted by my stomach that I just can't think anymore. It's really crazy how much the kiddo is moving right now! So I'm just going to quit blogging tonight and enjoy the antics!

    Have a great weekend!

    Weekly Confessions

    • I’m completely confounded by the Geico gecko. It’s not so much that it’s a talking lizard, it’s more that I can’t figure out whether he’s supposed to be an Australian gecko or a British gecko. His accent totally throws me off. I’m from the heart of the deep south. If a lizard is going to try to sell me insurance he’s going to need to know the word, “y’all.”

    • I think Smart cars are the dumbest looking car ever made. I’m sorry if you own one. It may be called a Smart Car, but you look like an idiot driving it.

    • The phrase, “_______ peed his/her pants” absolutely infuriates me and has since the movie Billy Madison came out. Why in the world have people resorted to leaving the “in” out of that sentence. Come on people, it’s a 2 letter word. How much more effort would it take to say, “______ peed in his/her pants.”
    • I just realized that I’m 8 months pregnant. I waddle now. It’s very obvious.

    • I bought a new pair of khaki maternity capris the other day. I was so excited to wear them until I realized as I was pumping gas that my legs are the exact same shade of khaki as the pants. Mama needs a tan, asap!

    Have a great weekend!

    Weekly Confessions

    • My sleep habits have been disturbed by Shark Week. Every night I'm having dreams that I'm being attacked. You might think that I would quit watching, but you would be wrong.

    • I was eating lunch at Cracker Barrel the other day and a lady walked up to me to give me her business card. I looked at it and saw that she was a psychic. If she was worth her salt in the psychic world she would have known not to waste a business card on me.

    • I accidentally hit a squirrel the other day with my car. It was so traumatic, both to me and the squirrel I'm sure. It was pouring rain, and the cute little fellow ran out in front of me. My front tires missed him, but unfortunately he was no match for my back tires. Sadly, my 13 years, 10 months, and 11 day record of never hitting an animal was gone in the blink of an eye.

    • I went on my first solo speaking engagement yesterday with my new job. It went great! I was really nervous beforehand, but it couldn't have gone better. It's amazing at how relaxed I got once I realized that I could in fact hook the projector and laptop up correctly. After that it was a breeze!

    • We went out for hibachi last night. When I told Jackson where we were going for dinner he said, "Mama, you have no idea how happy that makes me! The place that makes the fire is my favorite in the whole world!" He may not look much like me, but that is my child through and through.

    Anything you need to confess?
