I Birthed A Genius....

Jeremy was working yesterday, and the pastor of the church where Jackson attends preschool came up to him and commented that "she just loved Jackson, that he's such a great kid, and that we were raising a very gifted child."

Tell me something I don't know....

Bless his Heart

Last night as I was helping Jackson pray before bedtime, he decided to pitch in with his prayer.

Me: "Say Dear, God."
Jackson: "Dear, God."
Me: "Thank you for today. Thank you for letting me have a good day."
Jackson: "Thankyoufortodayforhavingagoodday."
Me: "Help me sleep good tonight."
Jackson: "But I don't want to go to sleep."
Me (ignoring previous comment): "Help me sleep good tonight."
Jackson: "Sleep good tonight."
Me: "Jackson, who should we pray for?"
Jackson: "Ummm. Papa and Gigi and Tanner (in-law's dog!), and Uncle Ben and Mimi and Adam and Albe (Mimi's dog!).
Me: "Good. Who else should we pray for?"
Jackson: "Ummm. Nana and Tata and Shadow (Nana's dog!) and KK and Uncle Jason. And Crystal. And Mommy and Daddy and Macy."
Me: "Anybody else?"
Jackson: "Ummm. David and Colleen and Kaitlynn and Gracie (all school friends) and Ms. Mantha (Ms. Samantha) and Ms. Taco (no clue here!).
Me: "That all?"
Jackson: "Ummm. Yes. Amen!"

Bless his little heart, I could just eat him up!

Thanks for the advice!

Jackson has kept me rolling with some of the funny stuff he has come up with lately. I thought y'all would get a kick out of him!

Yesterday Jackson and I were driving (in the snow!) to church when we had the following conversation:
Jackson: "Whatcha doing Mommy?"
Me: "Driving to church."
Jackson: "Okay. It's snowing outside!"
Me: "I know! I'm trying to be careful driving in the snow."
Jackson: "Mommy, you be careful and try not to crash."
Me (laughing): "I'll do my best!"
Then, after supper last night Jackson was playing and tripped and fell nose first on to our kitchen floor. I heard the crying and as I went running Jeremy had already scooped him up and was making sure that his nose wasn't broken. After we got him calmed down we realized that his nose was fine, but that he would probably have a little bruise. As I was giving him his bath later, I tried to look his nose over a little more.
Me: "Jackson, please let me look at your nose for a second. I'm gonna wiggle it for just a second. Does it hurt?"
Jackson: "Ummmm.........No. It's okay. I only broked it a little bit."

I love the stuff he comes up with!

Am I blushing?

Jackson has gotten me good lately with some of the things only a preschooler can say. Since I've already told y'all how I'm not really on my game right now, I thought I would have nothing to lose with embarrassing myself further. So here goes....

Monday night we were trying to enjoy a meal at Logan's Steakhouse. Jackson tends to be a handle at restaurants so Jeremy and I were both pulling out all the stops to ensure for the best possible behavior. Our food had just been brought out and we were about to start eating when Jackson stands up really quick in the booth and announces rather loudly to everyone within earshot that, "I need to go to the bathroom and push it out!"

Thanks for sharing....

Then, yesterday when I was picking Jackson up from school he got me again. There were several parents picking up their kids all at the same time, and so the hallway was really crowded. I walked into his room and he ran up and gave me a huge hug. I stood up and was holding him asking him how his day was when he proceeded to stick his hand all the way down my shirt, pull it out far enough for anyone to see everything I've got, and ask me, "Mommy, whatcha got in there?"

It was like Chik-Fil-A all over again....

What is something funny a child has done or said around you?

Joys of Parenting

Let me share with you what my sweet son Jackson did on Saturday. We had a busy morning with a Easter bunny photo shoot, and then Jeremy and I were going to head to a local car dealer and test drive an Uplander. Mom was set to watch Jackson, but we had a little time to kill, so we stopped by Chick-Fil-A for some lunch. This is THE place to be on Saturday if you have a child. The food is good, the kid meals are tasty, and they have a great indoor playground. It is always packed.

So picture this: Saturday at 12:45 in the afternoon. Chick-Fil-A is crawling with kids and parents. One of those days where you have to pounce if you see an empty table. After Jackson had finished his lunch I decided to be a cool mom and treat him to some dessert. If you turn in the cheap toy they give you, you can get a free kids cone. I got the kids cone, and a regular cone for Jeremy. Jackson has never really had an ice cream cone, so he was busy sticking his nose into every time he tried to get a bite. It was so cute, and he was a mess. When he got through, there was still a little ice cream left, and seriously, I was not going to let it go to waste. I put Jackson in the booth (he was ready to go by this time), and I proceeded to try to eat a few bites.

Between the messy cone, and Jackson crawling off and on my lap, I was rather distracted. This may be why I didn’t immediately realize that Jackson had stuck his hand so far down my shirt that my entire left boob was hanging out of my v-neck sweater. In plain view of everyone walking in the door. I was so shocked, that I immediately spit out on to the table the bite of the ice cream cone that I had just eaten. There I was, ice cream dripping off my chin, boob exposed (thank goodness I wasn’t wearing a lace bra), and Jeremy sitting there not saying a word. All I could do was laugh! The worst part: I have no idea how long I was sitting there like that. Jeremy obviously wasn’t paying me much attention. He was enjoying his ice cream cone.

So with that... to all the parents at the Prattville Chick-Fil-A on Saturday. I’m sorry. I really didn’t know that I was showing all my business to you (and/or kids, in-laws, neighbors, church youth group, and random college students that seriously needed a shower). I promise that I will do my best to never let it happen again. It will be a long time before Jackson will be getting another ice cream cone.

This kid is tuckered out

We could even make the "transfer" for a picture without him waking up!

Talking on the phone

He wears his hats pulled so low that he can't even see. He insists that it be this way. Too funny!

He has to lift his head up all the way to see anything when he has his hat on!

That's all for today. I hope you have a wonderful week. Bye Ya'll!!

Our solution (at least we hope it is)

After much debate and many creative solutions offered, we have decided to purchase the Tots In Mind Cozy Crib Tent to try and contain little man for a few more months. Actually, I decided to buy it, and Jeremy graciously agreed. I know that I don't want Jackson in a toddler bed or a twin bed yet, and I am just a nervous wreck when I think about him climbing in and out of his bed. So, I had to find something to help us. We actually were watching Dateline last night and it was featuring the McCaughey septuplets and showing them over the last 10 years. It had tons of highlights from when they were toddlers and Jeremy and I spotted the crib tent over many of the beds and I just had to do some research and find out what it was. Thanks to GOOGLE, I now know. It looks weird, but parents that have tried it sing it's praises. I know....I did research! It should arrive by next Wednesday and believe me, you will hear about it whether it is good or bad.

Bite-Gate Update: I know you have all been on the edge of your seat wanting to know whether we got Jackson to quit biting. Answer: Sort of. He had stopped biting and then they promoted Kaitlynn to his class at school, and guess what her favorite thing to do is? You got it…Biting! She has left 3 bruises on his arms from her little canines. Jeremy’s main concern was that she had her rabies shot. After all, we can’t have Jackson getting sick! Now, Jackson has reverted back to biting occasionally, and I can’t really blame him. Kaitlynn is chewing him to pieces. He has to defend himself somehow!

I gotta run. Tonight is the last night of Dave Ramsey, and in his honor, I am going to skip class and go Christmas shopping! Have a good Thursday!
