Worms in Your Belly
He was less than thrilled about that.
He wanted to know if there were worms in his belly right then, so I put my ear to his tummy and listened for a second. I assured him that he didn’t have worms in his belly, and that he was fine, but that he could get them from drinking bathwater.
A few minutes later when I was drying him off, he put his ear to my tummy and said, “Uh-oh Mommy! I listened to your tummy and you have snails in your belly!”
Maybe that’s why I feel so sluggish…
So now between a shark in the living room, and worms in his belly, I feel sure that his future therapist will have plenty to work with!

Big Changes For Our Little Man
So I took the open spot and I've been stressed ever since.
I'm not stressed about the decision, because I truly feel this is the right choice for our family. God is providing a way for us to save over $2,000 a year while at the same time have a great place for Jackson to stay. It's a wonderful Christian environment at a Baptist church just around the corner from us, and I've never heard a complaint about them. For Heaven's sake, the waiting list is 3 years long! I dropped by yesterday afternoon and met the director and his teacher. Both seem very nice and I felt like he would be very well taken care of.
That being said, I'm still very stressed and anxious.
I'm mostly stressed about how Jackson is going to take the change. He isn't a very outgoing child until he warms up, and for him that sometimes takes a little while. He is very reserved and doesn't handle new things very well.
And I'm stressed about Jackson having to say goodbye to his friends and teachers.
And I'm stressed about taking Jackson to a new school where he doesn't know anyone.
And I'm stressed that although I know that Jackson is going to have to learn to make transitions in life, it doesn't make this immediate change any easier on him or us.
So keep us in your prayers. Pray specifically for an easy transition time for Jackson and that he will love his new school and teacher. Pray that he is able to make new friendships easily.
Pray for his Mommy and Daddy when they take him the first few days.
We drive by this school all the time and he loves the playground. He'll say, "When I get bigger, I'm going to go to that school and play on that playground." So right now we are really playing up the "you're bigger and you'll get to play on a new playground" aspect of things while at the same time trying not to let Jackson see how stressed I am for him.
It's times like these when I really wish that children came with a handbook for tough decisions...

A "Sogoodyou'llwanttoslapyourmama" Recipe
Seriously y'all, words cannot describe how good these ribs were. I made them on Saturday and my mouth is watering just thinking about them now. The meat was so tender that it was falling off the bone in the crock pot! Absolutely finger-lickin good! Jeremy was devouring them and he normally thinks ribs are too much work to worry about. Jackson even liked them, once I showed him how to eat them. And the best part: you cook them in the crock pot and the recipe only calls for 5 ingredients! Gotta love it!
"Secret's in the Sauce" BBQ Ribs
2 racks pork baby back ribs (about 4-1/2 pounds)
1-1/2 teaspoons pepper
2-1/2 cups barbecue sauce
3/4 cup cherry preserves
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 garlic clove, minced
Cut ribs into serving-size pieces; sprinkle with pepper. Place in a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker. Combine the remaining ingredients; pour over ribs. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender. Serve with sauce.
My only adjustments to the recipe were that I used Sweet Baby Ray's original barbeque sauce, but you could use any sauce that you like. I also don't like mustard, so I didn't add the Dijon mustard, and since I wouldn't have the faintest idea of how to mince a garlic clove, I just bought the jar of minced garlic and added 1tsp.
Give it a try. I promise you won't be disappointed!

A Moment of Silence
Remember how I thought we had gotten rid of him?
I was wrong...
Over the past couple of days we had discovered some, ahem, evidence that he was still lurking around our house. So while I was at Wal-mart on Saturday I went ahead and bought some mousetraps. I don't like them, but I also don't like having a mouse running loose in my house.
Before bed last night Jeremy set two traps and baited them with peanut butter. As a side note, it was pretty funny watching Jeremy try to figure out how to set the traps. A few times it snapped, but luckily his fingers weren't near it at the time.
It did however scare the daylights out of Jackson.
And now neither Jackson nor I are a big fan of the mousetraps.
And it's times like these that I'm so glad that Jeremy's in the funeral directing business.
So without further adieu, let's take a moment of silence for our furry little friend....
Mouse, A. Harry, passed away suddenly at his home in Wade's World at 3:29 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009. He was enjoying his final meal here on earth when God snapped his fingers and called him Home. His former family likes to imagine that he is enjoying his days staring at Cheese-puff clouds, eating gourmet Swiss, and swimming around pools of melted Velveeta. He is survived by family and friends, who if smart, will be packing up and moving out of Wade's World as we speak. He was a smart, well educated mouse; he knew a glue trap when he saw one. He taught us much during his short life, the most important lesson being that choosy mice choose Jif. He will be fondly remembered as "that mouse that ran across Jeremy's foot." In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wade Family Disney fund.

A Keeping It Simple Recipe
Normally I make this with a block of Mexican Velveeta and a can of Petite cut diced tomatoes, but last night I used the original Velveeta and the diced tomatoes and it was still really good. In fact I think that I liked it better than when it was spicy. If you like really spicy things, use the Mexican Velveeta and a can of Rotel, just don’t blame me if it gives you heartburn!
Here goes:
Cheesy Chicken Spaghetti
1 regular size Velveeta cheese (either original or Mexican, cut into cubes)
1 can of either Rotel tomatoes or Petite Cut diced tomatoes (do not drain)
1 can of diced white meat chicken (drained)
1 package of whatever spaghetti noodles you like (I use angel hair)
In a large sauté pan add the can of tomatoes and cubes of the Velveeta cheese. Drain the chicken and take a fork to break the chicken up into fine pieces so that it is almost shredded. Add to the sauté pan. Turn on low heat so the cheese doesn’t burn and stir frequently until the Velveeta is mixed through.
While the sauce is heating, cook your noodles. When the noodles are done, drain and mix into the cheese sauce. Combine everything really well and serve with a salad and rolls.
The whole meal, start to finish, can be cooked in less than 15 minutes, and I’m all about that! Try it out and let me know what you think. Have a great day!

When I Get Bigger
Jackson had us cracking up laughing last night. It all started with Jeremy went to give him his dose of allergy medicine. Jackson grabbed the medicine dropper and told Jeremy that he wanted to do it "ALL BY MYSELF!" Well, Jeremy had to help him anyways, and as soon as he swallowed the medicine, Jackson jumps up onto the couch, points his finger at Jeremy and (as he's shaking his pointer finger at Jeremy) says, "Next time I take that medicine I will be bigger and I will do it ALL BY MYSELF!"
Jeremy and I started laughing so hard. Without missing a beat, Jackson looks at both of us and said, "Seriously, you guys, you need to calm down!" The only thing that would have made it cuter would be if he had used the phrase, "y'all" instead of "you guys." No offense to my Northern readers, but "you guys" is so Yankeeish, and for the life of me, Jackson will not say, "y'all" no matter how much I try to get him to repeat it. I'm working on it though!
And y'all, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was such a good movie. It wasn't exactly like the book, but I have to give them credit that they did a really good job on the movie. I guess it's rather difficult turning a 700 page book into a 2 1/2 hour movie, but I was definitely pleased. I'm dying to go see it again! Have a great Monday!

You Asked For It!
Michelle asked, "If you are in the woods alone and a tree falls "Who yelled 4?"
I'm thinking this is a trick question, but I'm gonna have to say that if I'm in the woods alone, and a tree starts to fall, I'm going to be too concerned about getting out of the way so the tree doesn't hit me, so therefore no one would yell 4.
Ethan, Zach, and Emma's Mom said...
"If you had to choose one TV show to watch--and only one--which one would you pick?"
This was a tough question. My first thought was that I would have to break things down into categories like the Emmy's even though that is kind of cheating. But it's my blog so I guess I can cheat!
Drama: House, Law & Order SVU, CSI Miami,
Comedy: The Office
Reality Show: The Bachelor/Bachelorette, America's Next Top Model, Top Chef, Iron Chef, American Idol, and Project Runway.
I'm going to have to also add a "Reruns" category.
Reruns: Friends, Golden Girls, The Cosby Show, Gilligan's Island, and I Love Lucy.
So the winner in each category is....(Drum Roll Please!!)
Drama: House
Comedy: The Office
Reality Show: The Bachelorette
Reruns: Friends
And the overall winner of the show that I would watch if I could choose only one show to watch would be Friends. I can quote entirely too many episodes. It's rather sad but I love that show, even after all these years. I even cried when the series ended. Apparently I'm pathetic.
And guess what's going on tonight?
I know you are dying from suspense.
Kellyn, Jason, Jeremy and I are all heading to the movies to go see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I'm so excited!! It's been 2 years since a HP movie has come out, and I can't wait!! I seriously debated about drawing a lighting bolt on my forehead but Jeremy burst my bubble and told me that I was being silly. Half-Blood Prince was really a turning point for the tone of the books, and was one of my favorite reads in the entire series. If you haven't read the books (or seen the movies), you really should give them a try. They may just surprise you! I'll give an update on the movie later.
And just to follow up on one more thing, The Debate of the Century is over, and I'm pleased to say that iced pop tarts were the clear winner with 86% of the vote!
Does that really surprise anyone other than Jeremy and the other 3 people that voted for plain pop tarts?
Y'all have a great weekend!

If You Give a Mouse A House
And you know that someone has been interested in it.
Well, apparently there is more interest in our house that from just that buyer. We have a mouse that has taken up residence in our home. Considering that we live very close to some woods I'm surprised that it hasn't happened before now.
It all started on Monday morning when Jeremy was heading into the kitchen. I happened to be right behind him to ask him a question when all of a sudden he jumped about a foot off the ground.
Our little visitor had run out from under the refrigerator right across his foot and into the laundry room.
Had it been me, Jeremy would have been announcing my funeral plans right now.
So Jeremy put out some of those little glue traps around the fridge and in the laundry room.
For the record, and so PETA and ASPCA don’t come chasing me down, I hate traps. I hate the thought of a mouse trap and I hate the idea of a glue trap. Both seem very painful, and either way it doesn’t fare so well for the mouse.
But having a mouse in my house doesn’t fare so well for me.
So we put the traps out and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
And nothing happened.
Then late Tuesday night Jeremy and I walked by the laundry room and caught a whiff of something really bad. We both thought that our little visitor had met his demise and had died in our laundry room. So Jeremy and I proceeded to move stuff out of the way, and I laid down on my stomach with a flashlight while Jeremy tilted the washer and dryer up so I could look underneath them and see if we had found our mouse.
I learned two things from this little experience: First of all, our dog Macy sheds a lot. I could have made a fur coat out of the hair underneath the washer and dryer.
Second of all, it’s extremely hilarious to tickle the back of Jeremy’s leg when he’s on a mouse expedition.
At least it was funny to me.
Jeremy wasn’t laughing.
So after checking out underneath the washer and dryer, we came up empty handed, but we could still smell something really bad. Then my eyes glanced in the direction of a bag of Wal-Mart bags. We always collect them and take them to Jackson’s preschool. I noticed that one of the bags looked kind of yellowed, so I held it out to Jeremy and asked him to check it out.
I may or may not have asked him to sniff the bags.
And Jeremy may or may not have sniffed the bags.
Let the record show that if someone asks you to sniff something, it’s probably not a good idea to do it.
After Jeremy went running from the kitchen dry heaving, it occurred to me that it looked kinda like milk that had spilled into the bag.
We haven’t seen or heard from our mouse friend since then.
And apparently the smell of spoiled milk works better than a mouse trap any day.

Jackson has already started spilling the beans at church! Yesterday his Sunday School teacher started telling him that he needed to tell his Mommy and Daddy that they needed to have a baby. Jackson said, "But I'm already gonna have a baby cousin!"
We are so excited and can't wait for this new addition to the Moore family. Please keep Kellyn, Jason, and their little peanut in your prayers!
Now it's time for Kellyn to finally start a blog!

The Debate of the Century
Pop tarts: Icing or Plain
I'm an icing girl. I adore icing. In fact, I think I probably eat more icing than I do cake whenever I can get my hands on it.
Jeremy is much more of a cake person. In fact, he doesn't even really like icing.
How sad...
So whenever it's time to by the breakfast of champions, pop tarts, we have to debate back and forth until we have wasted entirely too much time over such a trivial matter.
Or Jackson puts the Blueberry Iced Pop Tarts into the buggy. Whichever happens first.
So I'm putting it out there as a boggy poll to end our debate once and for all; Which pop tart is better: iced or plain?
So click on my poll on the left side of the screen and share your thoughts in the comment section.
And I know y'all aren't going to let me down on this...
I've got way too much riding on being "right" on the Pop Tarts!

The Pie That Wasn't Meant To Be
Here’s why…
Shannon’s recipe makes 2 pies, so I told Jeremy that since he had to work on Saturday I would send him to work with one of the pies and I would take the other to my parent’s house. He was excited about that and so when we got home from Wal-Mart around 7:45 that night I began making the pie. Here’s the recipe I used:
STRAWBERRY PIE
2 containers fresh strawberries, sliced and washed
2 pie shells (homemade, if you're fancy, store-bought if you're me)
17 oz Sprite or 7-Up
1 pkg strawberry Jell-o
1 1/2 cup sugar
5 tbsp cornstarch
Bake pie crust, set aside to cool.
In a sauce pan, bring Sprite, sugar and cornstarch to a boil. Cook over low heat until it thickens (5-10 minutes).
Remove pan from heat. Stir in Jell-o until dissolved. Mix in sliced strawberries. Chill mixture in fridge for 20 minutes.
Remove from fridge and pour into two pie shells. Cover with saran wrap and chill for at least three hours before serving.
Sounds simple enough, right?
Did you read the first line of the instructions? The one that says, “Bake pie crust…”
Yeah, I didn’t read that line.
I skipped right over it.
I had bought a store bought pie shell because I never claimed to be Betty Crocker. I had this gorgeous yummy strawberry goodness ready and poured it into the pie shells. I wrapped them in saran wrap and started walking over to the fridge. I was patting myself on the back for being such a happy little homemaker with my homemade strawberry pie when my finger touched onto the pie crust and a thought crossed my mind…
How is the pie crust going to harden in the fridge?
Answer: It won’t.
I immediately dumped the strawberry pie filling back into the sauté pan and asked Jeremy to come help me. He suggested that I just scrap the pie filling out of the shell and then bake them. I knew that that wouldn’t work because every time I scraped some of the filling out, the dough started getting gooey and falling out of the pie shells.
So Jeremy went to Winn-Dixie for me at 9:00 that night to buy more pie shells because he loves me. And he really wanted some pie.
I started preheating the oven while he was gone so when he got back I popped the pie shells into the over and prayed that the filling wouldn’t start to harden before I could get it into the shells.
After they cooked I set them out on the oven to let them cool.
And after 10 minutes or so I picked up a shell to test and see if it was cool yet.
And apparently I tipped the pie shell just enough for the entire pie crust to dump out onto the floor.
And then I started laughing. Like a maniac.
Because there wasn’t anything else to do at the time.
And then Macy ate the pie shell.
So I came to the conclusion really quick that Jeremy just wasn’t meant to take a pie to work, and he was fine with that seeing what I had gone through. I would have DIED if I had sent my husband to work with a pie crust that was dough. And that would have been really hard to live down, especially with some of his coworkers.
So I dumped as much of the filling as I could into the last pie shell standing and then Jeremy and I proceeded to eat the leftover pie filling with a spoon straight out of the saute pan.
And since Jeremy couldn't take a strawberry pie to work, I saved him a really big slice of pie on Saturday.
And he loved it.
It was amazing, and so worth the trouble.
And I’m going to make it again this weekend at Jeremy’s request for his parents, but this time, I’m going to actually re-read the directions BEFORE I start cooking!

30 Day Shred (otherwise known as, "Torture for Dummies")
We got home and I began to Shred. About 25 seconds into the video, I was questioning why I had decided to do this.
About 3 minutes into the video I was dying.
Jeremy thought I was kidding until I made him do the video later.
Then he quit joking on me.
And neither of us is laughing anymore.
How can 20 minutes be so torturous?
I'm so sore right now that I skipped doing the exercise last night because I couldn't move.
In fact, I'm having to hunt and peck right now as opposed to typing because my arms aren't working.
I've found muscles that I didn't know existed.
And I'm 2 days out from doing the video and I still can't walk.
So Jillian's 30 Day shred may turn into Amy's 60 day shred.
And I would laugh at my misery, but it hurts too bad.
Happy Independence Day!

We've Got a Bite on Our House!!!
And another realtor just called to say that he is showing our house today.
I'm excited about these prospects. Please keep your fingers crossed for us that our realtor can reel them in!
